Video game adaptations are said to be a failure, yet Resident Evil's films boast the not at all unpleasant $1.2 billion worldwide, expressing the tremendous potential of the franchise. However, it seems that the era of Milla Jovovich has come to an end and the entertainment giant known as Netflix has set its sights on the title Capcom.

As Deadline reveals, Resident Evil will become an exclusive Netflix series that is already in the development phase. The production team in charge of the project would be working on the script and looking for showrunner, so we could enjoy this adaptation much sooner than we thought.

Apparently, the story would emphasize the drama and deepen the problems of Umbrella Corp, in the current canon of the franchise. In addition, it will revolve around the "new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus (...) incorporating all the distinctive elements of Resident Evil, including action sequences and Easter eggs to other adaptations on different entertainment platforms".

It should be noted that the reboot of the Resident Evil universe in the cinema continues in charge of Constantin Film and also the imminent remake of RE2 for PS4, XBOX ONE and PC adds to the contingent of proposals related to one of the most popular horror and zombie titles of the last decade.
