Pacific Rim Uprising/Pacific Rim Uprising Full Movie Watch Online

Watching Two Pacific Rim Uprising Mechs Punch The Crap Out Of Each Other Is Very Satisfying

Giant robots, as we've previously established, are good. Multiple giant robots? Even better. Multiple giant robots fighting each other? The best.

We still have no idea why Pacific Rim Uprising -- a movie ostensibly about a team of giant mechs working together to punch giant monsters in the face in the name of protecting humanity -- is featuring some hot robo vs. robo action.

Some of the trailers have hinted at nefarious humans who've been working to bring the Kaiju back to Earth after the events of the first movie saw them seemingly defeated for good, but this double-sword-armed villainous Jaeger (called Obsidian Fury, just to let you know that it's eeeeeviiiiil) and its role in the story still remains a mystery.

That said, Yahoo has a clip up of the main Jaeger of Uprising, Gipsy Avenger (piloted by John Boyega and Scott Eastwood's characters, Jake Pentecost and Nate Lambert) going up against Fury for the movie.

Even though we have questions as to why it's happening, it turns out it's just as fun to watch robots punch each other as it is watching them punch giant monsters.

Pacific Rim the 2013 Guillermo Del Toro giant robots punching giant monsters movie took the sci-fi fantasy world by storm. Blending classic monster movie mayhem with modern Japanese anime aesthetics and dialling the visual effects up to a whole new level. Five years later its sequel, Pacific Rim Uprising is about to be unleashed and it’s hoping to deliver the goods on being bigger, bolder and brasher than the first.

Director Steven S. De Knight (Marvel’s Daredevil, Spartacus) and stars of the film John Boyega (Star Wars, Attack The Block) and Scott Eastwood (Fast & Furious 8, The Longest Ride) landed in Sydney to kick off their world press tour promoting the movie, in particular since a large portion of the filming was done in the city. And to celebrate Universal Pictures in conjunction with Supanova Comic Con and Gaming held a fan event at Event Cinemas George Street, as well as at cinemas in Brisbane and Melbourne. The event included screening excerpts of the movie as well as fan question and answers, so here’s five things we learnt from the Pacific Rim Uprising fan event.

How much of John Boyega is in Jake Pentecost, and what drives Scott Eastwood’s character Nate Lambert?

John: “I’ve always wanted to have a good time, I’m optimistic about life but I don’t steal Jaeger parts. He doesn’t care about the PPDC (Pan Pacific Defence Corps) but this movie carries him on a journey of self discovery and basically become what his father was, which is a hero. He’s a certain type of hero but he’s a Pentecost nonetheless.”

Scott: “Nate is a product of the PPDC, the new young cadets that he has to prepare for another war is what drives him. Every character I play starts with a dissection of who they are, what they think. Nate is a pilot, I also happen to be a pilot so I drew from that and then I worked with John and Steven to build a character who is very different to Jake Pentecost, in the sense that they had gone two different paths.”

Steven S. De Knight has carved out a hugely successful career in television, so how does he go from small scale television to big scale film production

Steven: “I have a button on my keyboard, it says “big”, I just press that and everything just expands!
Honestly that’s not far from the truth, everything I did in TV I applied to this movie, it’s just bigger. My stunt coordinator on Daredevil came over and helped choreograph some of the fights, one works hand in hand with the other, it’s really just a much much bigger version of what I’ve been doing. So getting robots that weigh thousands of tonnes to move requires a combination of tools. Having stunt men move slowly doesn’t work so they choreograph the fights at normal speed and then when it’s transferred into CGI there’s an algorithm for it called “heft and jiggle” to make them look bigger and heavier.”

With names like Gipsy Avenger, November Ajax, Saber Athena …. who comes up with the names of the Jaegers?

Steven: “I wish there was an online name generator, we had a writer’s room for two weeks and out of that there were two whole days dedicated to trying to come up with naming them and the Kaiju. We had a bunch of rejected names, my favourite was “Murder Witch.”
John: “My favourite of the names is Saber Athena.”
Scott: “Really? You’re gonna do a dirty like that? What about Gipsy?!?”

For Steven, as a director, what was his biggest challenge? And for John and Scott, how hard was it working in a CGI green-screen heavy environment?

Steven: “Everything was a challenge, but time was the biggest. Usually a movie like this takes three or more years to do, because of release dates and actor schedules we had only two years to do it, so it was a flat out sprint from start to finish. We filmed a lot on location in Sydney, a lot of visual effects were based on plate shots, and there was a lot of on-ground shooting. We also have to put the robots in at some point!”

John: “Working on sci-fi I love it, it’s imagination and you get to be a kid again. It’s an actor’s job to imagine and we actually had a practical set for the Jaeger head, inside was built inside a compod that was built on hydraulics so it moved the same way as the head does, as well as a blue-screen treadmill. So it wasn’t hard to imagine the dopeness.”
Scott: “When you’re doing it, it’s not that hard, you do base it in reality and try to keep it grounded. So getting to watch the film for the first time is a treat and seeing what has happened after all the post production.”

John Boyega has his own production company, UpperRoom Entertainment Limited, and is running double duty as an executive producer on Pacific Rim Uprising

John: “I founded my company in 2015 after Star Wars, and wanted the opportunity to expand and do some cool stuff. I went to Legendary for a general meeting and they already had Pacific Rim Uprising as a pitch and everything just seemed great. It was really good to collaborate with Steven, and our other producing partners, to agree or disagree and try to make the best movie we can. To a certain extent there were conversations about changes, for me the way I lead with all this stuff is that I wanted to put things into the movie that I know fans want to see, and Steve wanted the same thing, like Jaeger on Jaeger fights, swifter robots, new technology.”

What was the motivation to film in Australia?

Steven: “When I was working on the script we needed a place to put the headquarters for the Pan Pacific Defence Corp (PPDC) and it needed to be obviously on the Pacific Rim. I looked at a bunch of places on a map that had to be iconic and had to have many factors for the story. And for the production it had to have the right weather for when we would be shooting, it had to have a great crew, dare I say it, a tax incentive, and also we had already written Sydney into the movie. So when we looked at everything we just thought, well why don’t we just shoot in Sydney? And I’m so glad we did, it was a fantastic experience here.”

If you could drift with anybody in the world, who would it be?

John: “It would have to be Idris Elba”
Steven: “I think that requires a two part answer, first would have to be my lovely wife, and second I’d have to pick James Cameron, just to be able to pick his brain”
Scott: “You guys said some really profound things and now my answer is going to sound shallow”
John” laughing “Did you want to drift with yourself?”
Scott” “No, I was going to say Adriana Lima, Victoria’s Secret Model”
John: “Why do you want to drift with her?”
Scott” “Ohhh I just would like to get to know her better”

Would John Boyega keep the Millennium Falcon or a Jaeger?

After a very long pause, a lot of grimacing and wincing and some thinking time.
John: “Oh man that question is so cold, but I have to keep the Falcon mate I can’t lie, she’s a spaceship, she can go anywhere.”

In 2013 a sci-fi fantasy action film called Pacific Rim took us all by surprise, combining classic monster movie giant creatures called Kaijus fighting against Japanese anime giant robots called Jaegers. Guillermo Del Toro brought his unique style and aesthetic to the feature, so when a sequel to the film was announced fans were suitably excited for more. Helming the follow up, Pacific Rim Uprising, is director/co-writer Steven S. De Knight, and starring as the two main leads are John Boyega (Star Wars, Attack The Block) and Scott Eastwood (Fast and Furious 8, The Longest Ride). Recently the stars and the director dropped by Sydney to kick off the film’s press tour.

Eastwood stars as Nate Lambert, the co-pilot to Boyega’s Jake Pentecost. Where Lambert is the straight-edged by the book ranger for the Pan Pacific Defence Corps (PPDC) he tends to butt heads with the young Pentecost and they don’t always see eye to eye. But in the end the two of them have to work together in order to save the day. Actors of course have to work pretty closely with their co-stars, so we quizzed Eastwood on how well he would cope with drifting with Boyega.

Eastwood has been rapidly increasing his filmography credits, from romantic dramas like The Longest Ride to adventure dramas The Perfect Wave and more recently action heist thrillers like Fast And Furious 8 and Overdrive. Though coming to the world of Pacific Rim Uprising brought a whole new set of action challenges and comparatively speaking there’s big differences but all of it is fun and exciting. And despite the green screen challenges the director also helped with providing some pre-visualisations of the Jaegers before jumping into the imaginary robot suits.

The Jaegers in these films are enormous robots designed to basically lay the smackdown on just as enormous monsters. And with a new movie comes new upgrades for each of the Jaegers, all of which have their own signature look and weaponry. From the trailer we’ve seen Eastwood and Boyega take the lead with Gipsy Avenger, who has received some enhancements to not only her physical look but also her arsenal. Eastwood has his own thoughts on what creative weapon he’d like to add to her array.

Universal Pictures’ 3D epic adventure Pacific Rim: Uprising, the follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 cinematic epic Pacific Rim, has just revealed the banners fo its four hero Jaegers – Gipsy Avenger, Guardian Bravo, Saber Athena and Titan Redeemer.

Gipsy Avenger. It honors the heroic legacy of her namesake as the flagship leader of the Mark VI fleet. More than just a Jaeger, she is a symbol of hope to millions. Gipsy Avenger has a new weapon called the Gravity Sling which allows it to lift up buildings and cars and launch them at Kaiju enemies. This Jaeger is the most challenging to operate but the strongest

Guardian Bravo. Designed for combat at range, it wields the Elec-16 Arc Whip: a proto-metallic successor to the chainsword, and brings a new sophistication to the chainsword’s whiplash move.

Saber Athena. The sleekest and most elegant Jaeger ever created, it is the fastest in the fleet, wielding twin blades in hyper-acrobatic combat.

Titan Redeemer. Built for brute force and armed with a seismic morningstar, it is the walking wrecking ball of the new fleet.

The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.

John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. As they seek justice for the fallen, their only hope is to unite together in a global uprising against the forces of extinction.

Jake is joined by gifted rival pilot Lambert (The Fate of the Furious’ Scott Eastwood) and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (newcomer Cailee Spaeny), as the heroes of the PPDC become the only family he has left. Rising up to become the most powerful defense force to ever walk the earth, they will set course for a spectacular all-new adventure on a towering scale.

Pacific Rim Uprising is directed by Steven S. DeKnight (Netflix’s Daredevil, STARZ’s Spartacus) and also stars Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is distributed in the Philippines by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.

We have a new clip from the upcoming Pacific Rim Uprising. The clip is brought to us by Hype Beast and features Amara (Adria Arjona) and Jake (John Boyega) outrunning a much bigger jaeger called November Ajax.

Amara’s tiny little one person jaeger is pretty cool looking but also provides a pretty cool comparison. It was hard sometimes, in the original, getting an idea of just how big the jaegers are. Seeing this smaller robot compared to the giant that is November Ajax is a pretty neat sense of scale.

Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat.

Pacific Rim Uprising, directed by Steven S. DeKnight, stars John Boyega, Tian Jing, Scott Eastwood, Adria Arjona, Charlie Day, and Burn Gorman.

The anticipated release of Pacific Rim Uprising is fast approaching. A slew of new trailers and poster art have been released in advance of the film’s debut and today, Screen Rant can share an exclusive first look at art from the upcoming film. These concepts come from the The Art and Making of Pacific Rim Uprising.

Written by Daniel Wallace, The Art and Making of Pacific Rim Uprising provides an exclusive first look at the gorgeous concept art behind the film, along with previously unknown behind-the-scenes details. The book will follow the entire process of bringing Uprising into reality, from conception to casting to wrapping the film production. Interviews with the cast and crew bring new insight into the film’s production, while a foreword written by director Steven S. DeKnight (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Netflix’s Daredevil) sets the tone for the discoveries awaiting within the book’s pages.

Uprising takes place ten years after the initial war against the Kaijus. John Boyega stars as the “absolute crook” son of Stacker Pentecost (played by Idris Elba in the Guillermo del Toro’s first film), Jake Pentecost. Jake will pilot Jaegers, like his father, but will also work to discover the enemy hiding on Earth. A score of new Jaeger pilots will join the fight which adds Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, and Tian Jing to the cast. Fan-favorites Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Burn Gorm reprise their lab researcher roles in the sequel as well alongside Rinko Kikuchi.

The Pacific Rim Uprising companion book will feature interactive components, such as booklets, foldouts, and stickers, along with never-before-seen images and concept art. You can get an exclusive sneak peek at three spreads from The Art and Making of Pacific Rim Uprising along with the book’s cover art, in the images below:

The art gives a full rendering of the Kaiju and Jaegers with great detail. Images include everything from quick sketches to detailed outlines and film production shots.

Comprehensive imaginings of the film’s epic battles provide a new perspective on Uprising‘s fast-paced action sequences. Sparks fly as the action takes to a busy city street.

Uprising has changed from its original script. Production designer Paul Austerberry revealed Guillermo del Toro’s original vision for the sequel film, revealing that Uprising was originally planned to take place in various places around the world, beginning in China and eventually moving into San Francisco, a common disaster film trope. Guillermo del Toro was originally attached to reprise his directing duties on Uprising, but after a six-month delay, he felt compelled to move on to other projects. The director helped in choosing DeKnight as the director of Uprising in his stead and worked on The Shape of Water which has earned del Toro much acclaim on the awards circuit.
