Frozen 2 – Movie Review

Yeah, so I am late to this party. Even though the trailer for this movie looked impressive, they were not impressive enough to make me run to the theater. After watching the movie I can say that it was the correct reaction. It was just an ok and slightly boring movie.

Yes, visually this movie is fantastic. The animation is better than ever and some scenes will take your breath away.

However, when it comes to the plot and the songs, the movie is less than impressive. Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff are back for another adventure. Elsa hears a voice that calls to her and that leads her to an adventure in an enchanted forest as that is the only way to save her kingdom. Obviously all of her crew joins her. Sure, there is the new super cute salamander, but the plot is not really interesting and has no heart and barley any humor. Olaf is still funny, but everything else is not and there should have been more of Olaf. There is some danger, but you know that there will be a happy ending, so there is no real sense of danger There was a warmth to the first movie that barley exists here, despite the fact that Anna and Elsa' relationship is still really good. The plot was just too predictable once you see where the movie is headed and it was no executed in an interesting enough way in my opinion.

As for the songs, "Into the Unknown" is still stuck in my head, but it is the only song from the movie that is stuck in my head. Also I prefer the Panic at the Disco version to that of the movie. All of the other songs are not memorable. I remember that Elsa arriving at her destination song was nice, but I can't remember it now. One thing that is stuck in my head is how bad Kristoff's song was. It was so bad that it is cringe worthy. So, that was disappointing. No song can compete with "Let it go" or "do you want to build a snow man".

Another thing that was disappointing was the ending. I don't want to spoiler anything, but I didn't like how Anna and Elsa's relationship evolved during the movie.

It's a PG movie, but some parts of the movie might be scary for children under five.

It was just an okay movie. Nothing to worry about missing. No hurry. We'll probably get a sequel considering how much money this movie made and I am not excited about it.

What we need is an Olaf movie. I thought his song was the best in this movie. Certainly the funniest.

There was an Olaf short movie which I didn't see, but wasn't received so well.
