On Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy which consists of burning dried mugwort on particular points on the body.
I usually hold a Moxa roll in one hand and set the edge on fire with the other.
Then move it slowly towards the part of the body that is in need.
My understanding on how this process works, is that it focuses the pain our mind creates on heat and by doing so a practitioner, through circular moves, is able to drive the heat together with the pain out of the body and to a grounding.
At the same time Moxa is used to warm certain regions and meridian points with the intention of stimulating circulation and inducing a smoother flow of blood and Qi.
All different bodies emit an aura that is strong enough for our hands to feel, when we are prepared to immerse and listen to the subtle sensations and higher sensory knowledge our bodies have.
A totally relaxed hand, that holds the roll, is needed to be able to sense better the field of the approaching part that requires our attention.
While relief may be temporary, more than one applications may be needed depending on the case and the resistance of each body to let go and heal.
The process of Moxibustion is a beautiful art to practice, as it guides one through the journey of unraveling the mysteries of the body.
And as with all things in life, practice makes perfect!
