MTN @20 AND THE LESSON FOR BUSINESS OWNERS

Recently MTN celebrated their 20th anniversary, in line with that they gave freebies to their customers.

Some customers received 5 minutes free calls, 10MB data, and so on. I hope you got yours and how did you feel when you received it?

Later I saw many reactions on social media where people complained that MTN is stingy. Even some calculated what they have spent over the years buying credit and data, based on that they feel they should receive more gifts.

Not only MTN I have heard people complain over other network providers, like GLO, 9mobile, Airtel, etc. But have you at a point felt so bad about any network that you are compelled to stop using the network due to their malfunctions or threatened to stop using the network?
You may quit using the network, but some have found themselves switching back to the same network again.
Have you paused and asked yourself why did I go back to the same network again? Maybe the Satan you know is better than the angel you don't know, well the answer is best to know to you.

WHY DID YOU GO BACK TO THE SAME NETWORK?
You must have found something unique about the network provider, maybe low call rate, fast Internet connectivity, bonuses, etc.
One good thing about network providers is that they have a niche you can not do without, can you stay without making calls or using data? That will make you feel like an Island or someone throws you overboard, right?

They know their targeted client and how to brand their product and make it insightful or fascinating for client consumption. Most of their clients can not do without their product despite malfunction or mistreatment because of the picture they have created and the value of their product.

They are not alone, they have competitors too but some still stand out and look appealing to you. Is that not so?

What can you learn from the example of network providers sighted above?

First, you need to understand your niche, the value you are creating, know your targeted customers, how to manage them, and reach out to them.
Are you a tailor, hairdresser, makeup artist, builder, marketer, commercial motorist, etc.?
Whatever services you provide for the public you need to have a deep-rooted knowledge about it, modify it over time, if possible make research about it from time to time so that you will always be updated and not go out of business.

You may use google search or you may look for a group that shares the same goal with you on social media and joins

BRANDING
This is another aspect of business promotion that people ignore but it contributes a lot to business development.

Branding is the process of creating a strong, positive perception of a company, its products, or services in the customer's mind by combining such elements as logo, design, and bringing in new concepts Colour itself has its interpretation, so the color you choose whether on your logo, signpost, etc is of great significance.

Integrity matters in business your motto should be integrity itself, do not lie to your customers otherwise, you will lose their trust.
Do not sell fake products to your customers, to some customers it does not matter the price just give them what they want.

For example, a pair of Genius walkers shoes might sell @ $25 at the roadside market, that same shoe might sell @ $50 in a boutique so what is the difference? The answer is branding.

Let me give a good example of what branding means, when I was a photographer I created a seal that bears my business name and logo "Domain Digital Effect" I created a lot of concepts that made me stand out. Later other photographers started creating something similar to mine.

One of my apprentices who has finished serving named his business Joe-Domain I asked him why he said that I have made the name so answering another name he feels will set him back.

You see, not that I take a better shot than others, that is the picture I created in customers' minds. In your niche, you need to stand out.

CLIENTS RELATION
You need to identify your potential customers, call or text them from time to time asking them about how their business is fairing, do not forget to do freebies from time to time.
Always update them about new products and services you feel they might need.
