[ANN] Make sure to move OPEN.MUSE or claim your NOTE/MUSE ASAP from any PTS / AGS or Bitshares 0.9.3c wallets!

in #muse7 years ago (edited)

There will be a snapshot of the balances on the current MUSE block chain at a future date that has not been determined yet to migrate to a new MUSE chain that is a fork of Steem. It is advised to migrate your stake to the MUSE web wallet so that you are in control of the keys for the wallet that holds your stake during the time of the snapshot. It's possible the new MUSE chain will not honor the AGS / PTS balances that remain unclaimed, so time is of the essence! Below is a quick guide for accomplishing that:

I. Go to https://wallet.muse.help and register a new account using the web wallet. Make sure to save your password securely, and take frequent backups.

II. If you are holding OPEN.MUSE: Convert OPEN.MUSE from Bitshares / OpenLedger to native MUSE by sending to the account you just registered, using the "Withdraw" feature of the OpenLedger gateway.

III. If you need to import your stake from a BitShares 0.9.3c wallet: In the MUSE web wallet, click the Settings gear icon in the top right corner, and click the "Wallet Management Console" button. On the next page, click "IMPORT KEYS"

IV. Next, upload the 0.9.3c wallet and enter the password when prompted. Afterwards, if any balances are found, you'll be prompted to import them into the web wallet and claim them to your new MUSE account.

V. Lastly, don't forget to create a backup of your new account's keys. You can also perform this action from the Wallet Management Console.

If you've accomplished the above, you should be prepared for the upcoming snapshot! If you are running into problems with the Bitshares 0.9.3c wallet and have the file and key, do not fear! We can perform some surgery on the wallet to make it all better! Get in contact with myself in the comments below, on steemit.chat, or on Telegram @robrigo. Alternatively contact my friend fluxer555 on the bitsharestalk.org forums and both of us will be happy to assist in recovery of stake related to 0.9.3c wallets.

Please ask any questions regarding these instructions below in the comments. Also, MUSE is seeking more witness candidates! If you want to be a witness, read up on the project at museblockchain.com and join the Slack channel. Talk to @cob about receiving an invite.

Have a good day, and happy claiming!

Thanks for the info. Very straight forward. I have much faith in muse and am excited to see the project moving forward.

Sup Robrigo. Thanks for the headsup :) What do you think around 500k BTS from way back at snapshot would be worth if I import them?

Probably a few hundred thousand MUSE. Totally worth it!

Hi @robrigo I've written an article about you, check it out, if you can? thanks.

Gonna grab some Muse. Here is some potential to rise to the moon ;)
And Muse is cheap also !!!!

Thanks for the reminder, @robrigo! Below is a note that may be helpful for others trying to do this.

Problem: After following your instructions to send open Muse to a new Muse web wallet, my transaction kept failing.

Reason for problem: It turns out that there must be enough BTS remaining in your BTS wallet to cover the fee for this transaction.

Solution: After adding some additional BTS to my wallet and trying again ... SUCCESS!!!

Thanks for the update @robrigo. I'm still having no luck withdrawing to the MUSE wallet from Open Ledger / BTS ... it just never arrives. I have contacted Open Ledger and apparently, they are looking into it. Let me know if anyone else is having this issue, and if you have any ideas. Thanks!

IMPORTANT: Be aware that by importing your BTS wallet you are exposing your private keys! Make sure these keys do not control any tokens on the BitShares network. Either transfer your holdings to a different account or update your private keys.

Also make sure to claim any other balances in other blockchains with the exposed private keys. E.g. you might hold PPY from a snapshot with the same private keys.

Precautions should be taken regardless of your possible trust in the dev-team.

Yeah true that.

Say I don't own muse yet and was wanting to get some.. best to wait until the switch over? Or any idea how long until this future date is or how much forewarning we might have?

Hey Doc,

You can buy OPEN.MUSE on the bitshares decentralized exchange and use the openledger gateway to transfer those to into a wallet.muse.help wallet as explained above.
