Dino Dvornik, King of Funk

Dino Dvornik was born in Split, August 20, 1964 and he was a Croatian musician, singer, composer, songwriter and actor. He was one of the largest representives of Croatian music.

He was known for its original blend of different music genres, a unique and eccentric scene appearance, energetic performances, great dance movements and pronounced vocal abilities.

In 1981, when he was 17, with his brother Dean. He made a pop composition called Kineski Zid eng. "The Chinese Wall" with which he promoted funk music. The name of the composition was given by the building in which they lived.

Because of music, Dino has also left baseball, a sport in which he was a very good player. Dino was as young as his style reminded Morrissey of the popular British band The Smiths.

There was a difference in thinking between Dino and his brother Dean so he started his solo career and his brother moved to USA.

Dino had his own vision of music already from the beginning, and he was misunderstood by record labels.He had a unique style of different genres like funk, techno, house, pop and hated to do the same thing over and over again.

Dino's unique style of music brought him the nickname "King of Funk". He was also known for being a perfectionist in the production and he locked him self up in the studio for months and would not go out until he "did" something that ultimately cost him health.

As far as music and production itself is concerned, it has always been a step in time and even in advance and has always given its fans the most modern sound, and liked to experiment with different sounds.
