The Black Lillies have been wowing crowds since 2008 and performing up to 200 shows per year. However, this particular CD, Hard To Please, was written in a snow and ice storm in Knoxville, while I was lounging on a beach in Key West, I might add (shameless plug here: https://steemit.com/keywest/@areynolds/key-west-florida-cemetery). With a couple of new members and guest appearances, TBL crafted this, their widest-reaching CD to date.

All with no label.

That's right folks, no label.
It.
Can.
Be.
Done.

To quote their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/theblacklillies/

"They’ve enthralled audiences at festivals ranging from Bonnaroo and South by Southwest to CMA Fan Fair and Stagecoach, won two Independent Music Awards, and played the Grand Ole Opry more than any other independent band."

With influences that span the genres of Rock, Americana, Soul, and Blues, TBL have crafted a sound all their own. If ever you discover they are playing near you, make certain to attend. I guarantee it is worth the drive and then some!

In spite of all of this talent and burgeoning fame one finds genuine, good folk. It's always a pleasure to see some of the band hanging out a my favorite pub, just like they did years ago when their names were not nationally known.

Maybe this authenticity is one of many reasons they are Knoxville's darlings.
