Review: Talk ¡More than Jazz! The Royal Book of Traditional Venezuelan Music | Mark Brown
Last April we celebrated the International Jazz Day with several activities on the 28th, 29th and 30th of April, the day of the official celebration.
We started the activities making use of shed 17 of the Art Center Los Galpones on Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 pm with the Talk ¡More than Jazz! The Royal Book of Traditional Venezuelan Music by the hand of the musician and researcher Mark Brown who told us about the process of research and creation of his project, which aims to disseminate the most extensive repertoire of traditional music in our country in the form of a Real Book (Guide Sheets). Mark was accompanied by his team and Venezuelan musician and composer Henry Martínez, with whom he described in detail the stages of this arduous research process and highlighted the need for public or private support for the printing of the first two volumes of the book, which have already been released in a rather limited edition in France.
