Listening to music appeals to different parts of your body

Rhythm And Bass

Rhythm and Bass appeals to our physical bodies. We feel it in our chest, our guts, and our bones. It puts us in a good mood and compels us to dance. We feel the rhythm and bass as a surge of energy through our physical being. It boosts our social energy, adding spirit to our conversations.

Melody

Melody is for the heart. Melody is what makes us feel love, wonder, and awe. The melody engages our emotions. When Freddie Mercury sings “Ooooooohhh Baby” after the guitar solo in Bohemian Rhapsody, we feel the power of that note cut us to the core.

Harmony

Harmony appeals to our intellect. Harmony bolsters the melody by shedding new light on it. It illuminates a new perspective from which to experience the melody, one we may not have previously understood.

Lyrics

Lyrics appeal to the mind as well, but more specifically, lyrics appeal to the logical center of the mind. It is not important to explain why the emotional experience and logical experience of life is different, but it is beneficial to consider that lyrics give our rational brains information to process.

As this processing begins, something amazing happens. The mind attaches logical meaning to an emotional message from the heart. This message is further charged by an altered energetic state in the body. All three aspects of the body unite into a single event.

The Mind, Body, and Heart Become One

This event is rare in life. How frequently do we find our hearts, minds, and bodies united in the same direction versus pulling us in different directions? When it does happen we feel its effect powerfully. That is why music is such an obsession; music has the power to unite our body, heart, and mind when we hear it.

I believe the whole of the mind, body, and heart together, working as one, is greater than either on its own. I believe this is the state of being in which we get in touch with our souls. I suspect this is the reason our favorite songs etch such a lasting impact on us. We consider them a part of who we are.

Very exciting, thank you guys! @ocd-resteem

As a former DJ, I totally get you! Music is a universal language. It connects us all!

Thanks for the solidarity @jessicapixie. Music is the universal language and it is the great equalizer. I remember hearing in a movie that Vladimir Lenin said he wouldn't have finished the communist revolution in Russia if he had kept listening to Beethoven due to the purifying, peaceful effect it had on him. Was that part of the movie historically accurate? Perhaps. Regardless, music blends all people, style, and cultures. Music brings us all together when we think we have nothing else in common. Cheers!

Wow!, Great stuff here. I just so love your presentation, You've got my vote.

thanks for the vote of confidence @akomoajong! I truly believe music has a transcendent effect on our existence

Exactly!

Great post @cosmicvibration. I feel what you are expressing in your post. I also respond to 432 hz. I feel it all throughout my body. Makes me feel very very connected to this Universe.

@innerstellar, A432 is a miracle of nature. Have you tried meditating or napping to any 432 or 528 sleep music videos on youtube?

@cosmicvibration, yes daily to 432 hz and a few times a week with 532 hz.

@cosmicvibration, you just gave me an explanation about why I enjoy music that has all the features to engage my mind, body and heart! I do enjoy pieces of music without lyrics, like classical and jazz, but I have never connected with music where the lyrics are screamed out or you can't understand the singer or the lyrics are hateful.

yes @violetmed, hateful lyrics can ruin an experience with sound you might otherwise enjoy. I think this is because our process of attaching meaning to music is so powerful. The subconscious protects us from lyrics we cannot decipher and rejects those which disagree with our own identities. Music is quite the hypnotic experience!

I agree with you cosmicvibration

thank you @edward91, It is my hope that more musicians will compose music for the world to feel this way, and more listeners will demand nothing less than excellence from their musicians!

love it! 😊

Wow reasons I love Dance . Music is Life . That's why we must be careful what we feed our mind and bodies when listening to music .

We must be careful indeed. Those words go deep.

very nice, thank you

thank you for this post : It opens our understanding on this magic effect music impacts on us and makes us sometime fly away...

magic is right!
