Dani Gancho - PASATIEMPOS (Original song) Playing in front of a Church that was bombed during the Spanish Civil war.

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Here I am singing my song "Pasatiempos", it was composed about 2 years ago.

On this video, I'm playing on a tiny square in Barcelona where a bomb was dropped during the Civil War in 1938; Sant Felip Neri Square, where a baroque Church built in 1721 with the same name is located.

Many children used the Church basement as a shelter during the bombing, and it's known that from 30 to 40 of them died there. The surrounding buildings collapsed and were reconstructed trying to reproduce the same architectonic look years later.

Structurally, Sant Felip Neri's Church survived to the attack, and as can be seen, its walls are full of the bomb shrapnel, a sad memory of the horror that was lived there.

The atmosphere of Sant Felip Neri Square can't be explained with words, hidden among the chaotic streets of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.

If you ever come to Barcelona, don't miss this place.

"Pasatiempos" Lirycs - Spanish - (Scroll down for English translation):

Si olvidas tu sitio, no podrás recuperarlo...
No,no , no...

No deja de llover, pero aquí algo huele a quemado.
Si olvidas tu sitio, no podrás recuperarlo.

"Pasatiempos" lyrics - English translation -

You worked sharpening bayonets,
in your other-life you were cannon fodder.
Your reality sometimes becomes so diffuse
because what you believe and the truth are not the same thing.

You don't know what goes through my mind,
But you knit me a beautiful sweater.

It's your own shit what fertilize the field,
The alarm does not sound even when you're burning.
Once I saw that you were not made of that material,
but you were infected by the bacillus of the jungle.
You were Hitler, I didn't want to be Karol Wojtyla.
If you make a mistake, you are still in the game.

You don't know what goes through my mind,
But you knit me a beautiful sweater.
From the viewpoint, I wave goodbye to the boats
and I sing to the dolphins that are becoming crippled.
It never stops raining, but still something smells burned,
If you forget your place, you won't be able to recover it...
No no no...

It never stops raining, but still something smells burned,
If you forget your place, you won't be able to recover it.

Thanks for watching, best wishes to everyone.
