Electronic Music Alliance - February 2019 Newsletter
Technical Hitches
Ok soooo we kinda had a few technical hitches with our WordPress site and it's taken us a little while to get things back on to the Steem blockchain - sorry to those on the #steem platform who supported our earlier posts. However, there's a plethora of places you can follow us on, which we'll highlight later in the blog. Best to give a catch up of where we were a week or so ago as we made our February Newsletter - this is transposed from our new website, which is going to be our hub going forward. Original post source is here from 23rd Feb 2019. Enjoy!
Welcome
Hello everyone and welcome to the February 2019 EMA newsletter! In this month's update, we'll be talking about how life is going in our vibrant electronic music community, the latest playlists and DJ mixes and we'll be taking an in depth look at one of our members in the "EMA Spotlight". Plenty to look forward to then ;)
EMA Community
Things really have been moving at light speed for us since launching on 1st January 2019 and we couldn't be happier with how it's going as the response really has been phenomenal! At the time of writing, we now have:
- 55 members in our Discord (up by 15 since last month),
- 790 followers on Twitter (doubled since last month),
- 99 followers on our Facebook page (set up this month),
- 11 curated playlists from members (doubled since last month)
Be sure to follow us on the above links (and the logos at the bottom of this post) so you don't miss our next weekly playlist!
We have also been busy behind the scenes on our website with the blog now fully integrated, along with Playlists, DJ mixes and our Member Profiles for you to follow. Not only that but there's a Gallery section now featuring some of the graphic talents from our members, look out for the design skills of Jansky ;) Feel free to browse around!
Latest Music Uploads
Co-Founder DaveyHub shared the very first EMA DJ Mix called "Electronic Dreams" over on our Mixcloud page. He summoned tracks in our Discord server and boy did the community respond in a big way! This is a fine display of mixing and production skills from Davey and the EMA family. Maybe Steem could allow embeds of Mixcloud but for now, here is a link to it - enjoy!
EMA Playlists
We do like to keep things as fresh as possible by having our weekly playlists featuring tracks no older than 3 months from our members. We curate and rotate the weekly playlists around the different platforms below to make sure both our listeners and members get as much coverage as possible:
- Spotify: 1st-8th of each month
- Soundcloud: 9th-16th of each month
- Choon: 17th-23rd of each month
- YouTube: 24th-end of each month
The latest EMA playlist is our Feb 2019 Choon Showcase which you can listen in to below. We definitely feel that the bar is raised with each showcase and I'm sure you'll agree! Click the image below to listen in to the latest Choon playlist!
EMA Spotlight
Now it's over to our EMA Spotlight section where we will be taking a deeper dive in to one of our members and finding out a little bit more about them. This month, we'll be sharing the talents of Skaarl, who has been one of the most active in our Discord, supporting new members and has a real community spirit. Furthermore, he's the first to make it to our "High Flyer" rank and so has earned the honour! So who is he? Let's find out!
Skaarl has affectionately acquired various nicknames in the first couple of months in EMA but the main ones we refer to him as are "Trouser Man", "Senor Trouser Man" and "Don Skaarlioni"! We're surprised he doesn't mention this in his bio below but we'll leave it up to the man himself to tell you more!
Bio
"All types of music appeal to me, particularly the more relaxed genres - chillout, ambient, downtempo, trip hop, jazz, latin, IDM, etc. Usually I will create downtempo electronic tracks, although I go through phases where it gets a bit more upbeat, just whatever I happen to be feeling at the time.
Back after taking time away from releasing music whilst at university. Currently working on several forthcoming releases as well as playing double bass as a session musician."
Reviews
“Skaarl is not only a great artist but very supportive of others on the platform, top bloke” - The Turtle Project
“Skaarl is a Cool Cat and a great musician. He pulls great heavy driving music out of his pocket and slaps you. Soft at 1st. His track ‘I Fear The Robots’ with Juxta says it all.” - wav-Dr.
Music
You can tune in to Skaarl on a variety of platforms, we've highlighted the main ones here.
We hope you have enjoyed this month’s newsletter, let us know in the comments below and catch you soon for the next one!
Yours
EMA
