last few weeks, so we are overdue! It's always strange for me to do these posts when it comes to bands like The Beatles or The Beach Boys; I've developed a format with these where I always include a little bio, but these bands are SO huge, and so well known, that it seems strange, but I figure I have to do it, there is too much precedence, hehe. The band was formed in 1960 in Liverpool, England, and had some early line-up shifts (which are quite famous in their own right), but the fab four of Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison were together from almost the very beginning. They came to fame in the mid '60s with their teen-rock anthems, and stood apart from other bands of the same ilk, as they wrote their music. As the members grew older, and developed as writers and musicians, their music began to involve. They began to push the boundaries of popular rock music, and eventually released some of the most famous and influential albums of all time, before their eventual split in 1970. The members all went on to release solo music, each having a lot of success in that realm as well. Today's song comes from my personal favorite album of theirs, 1967's Magical Mystery Tour, and is one of the weirdest and coolest on the album. The main progression is built around a diminished triad, though they move back and forth between the minor and major third, creating a floaty, mysterious vibe.
