Greetings everyone,

Last Saturday I went to a doom festival which is taking place here in my hometown in Athens. This festival took place last year (November 2018) for the first time and this year it was time to return with its second 'wave'. The organizers had announced some months ago already the headlining band that would appear in this festival and I was happy to finally get the chance to see them performing live.

When I entered the live club, Soul Dissolution (Belgium) were on stage performing their set of songs. I don't know this band at all and from what I've heard listening to them they're interesting playing a kind of post-black metal. It was my very first contact with their music and while listening to them live in high decibels it only grew my anticipation for the two bands who would play afterwards.

Next band to hit the stage were Inner Missing (Russia), a band that I've had heard before, I had bought an album from them following a recommendation from a good friend two or three years ago. Their music is gothic rock creating an atmosphere with the frontman's clean only vocals and his female band member playing the bass, while the screen above the stage was displaying images accompanying visually their music's atmosphere.

In the meantime, a friend had joined me in the club almost from the beginning and we were listening to the music and talking and having a beer. Finally the time had come to enter the 'main' part of the festival. Next band to climb the stage were Shattered Hope (Greece). I had listened to their last album so far and that was my first contact with this band and now it was a good opportunity to also see them live. They're playing doom / funeral doom kind of music and in the one hour they had available they played two songs from their released albums, one being the following

and another two new songs not yet released, one being the following

And finally the headlining band Clouds (most members from Romania) prepared the stage to present to us their material. I know this band from this festival's bill of bands the most. You can have a look if you want at two of my previous posts about my music collection to get an idea about this band.

Among the songs that the band played, they presented us a new song which belongs to their new album that they're writing. The frontman Daniel made an introduction referring to his personal life and how this inspires him to channel his pain in the band's music. His dad died from cancer 6 weeks ago and he told us that he should had been with his mom that day being the remembrance and saying the final goodbye words, but he chose not being there but instead proceed with the band's appearance in this festival. You can see the following video to understand a little better what's all about and listen to the new song.

For closure they played the following song, that's among my favourites from them

Overall it was a nice Saturday night out and I'm looking forward to attend more gigs from bands that I like and have an opportunity to enjoy them live.
