Songs That Were Seeds of Anarchism in My Developing Mind Part 2.

Music is Powerful and Can Help Form Our Perceptions of Life.

When I was growing up in the 80's and early adulthood in the 90's Rock music and Hip Hop were my two favorite types of music. When I was relaxing at home playing my Nintendo or doing my homework I liked to listen to music. My favorite radio station was 96 WCMF in Rochester, NY. This station played 60's and 70's classic rock.

The anti-war songs that were created during and after the Vietnam war had an impact on me. Even though I joined the US Navy after high school the music had already pierced my young patriotic mind. Like many of you I grew up watching the glory of patriotism on TV and in Movies. As I grew older and learned how the world operates my patriotism dissolved away revealing a big middle finger. Mr. Rogers was the man!

"War Pigs by Black Sabbath"

Generals gathered in their masses,
just like witches at black masses.
Evil minds that plot destruction,
sorcerer of death's construction.
In the fields the bodies burning,
as the war machine keeps turning.
Death and hatred to mankind,
poisoning their brainwashed minds...Oh lord yeah!

Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that role to the poor

Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait `till their judgement day comes, yeah!

Now in darkness, world stops turning,
ashes where the bodies burning.
No more war pigs have the power,
hand of god has struck the hour.
Day of judgement, god is calling,
on their knees the war pigs crawling.
Begging mercy for their sins,
Satan, laughing, spreads his wings...Oh lord, yeah

My beliefs regarding war are not appreciated among most of the people I was in the military with or my family. Being an outcast is not a problem for me. When I signed up my church brought me down to the front of the congregation and gave me a blessing to go off and participate in Murder, Death, Kill. Now the majority of those people have unfriended me because of my anti-war, anti-government beliefs. They prefer to send their young people off to pointless wars rather than stand up to their masters.

I so love the mic drop, perfect! Mr. Rogers rocks with the finger too. Never wanted you to go to the war son. But you were determined back then to do what you thought was your dutiful thing to do. Wasn't it your guidance counselor that first suggested you joining the military? At lease you got to see and enjoy Sicily.

Yay for Randy's mom! I'm trying to recruit my sister currently...

I think this is an interesting topic for a post because so many of the things people in this community are talking about doing is really based upon a tremendous shift of consciousness. Music is a powerful elixir with a universal reach and thus enormous potential to be a catalyst for expanding minds and hearts.

That Mr. Rogers clip is too much... do you know where/when it is from?

No I have no idea where the video came from but I agree Music opens the heart and mind to greater awareness. It is so wonderful to see the shifting in peoples minds taking place. We are creating a new, and better world where we will see that we are all one.

Yes I agree music is very very powerful and it can change our perception on life ! I have always enjoyed rock music and I have a huge playlist of rock that I listen to almost every day. Though I do enjoy the music that is being produced nowadays, rock feels the most real since real people use real instruments to produce it.

Music has the can make me so happy and so sad it is somehing that you feel in your body, Nice post.

I like Black Sabbath and this song has great lyrics. I think the same way with you about the war and your last phrase is the message to all. "They prefer to send their young people off to pointless wars rather than stand up to their masters".

Perfect timing for dropping the mic :d

I loved the song. Thanks for sharing :)

A classic. Nice choice!

This lyrics for this songs I think most of us can totally relate with.
Music has a lot of power to shape and control someone.
It toys with their feelings turning them into ones old aggrieved, indignant self to someone who is content and happy.
'Day of judgement, god is calling,'
It is coming :)

music is the soul of our heart...
