Fundamental Principles of Sound Mixing
Fundamental Principles of Sound Mixing
The Importance of Sound mixing Cannot be disputed or neglected: to make an Outstanding Sound out of your Music, an outstanding Mixing skill is required. It creates an extraordinary sound, a purified tune and gives your music clarity. Whether it is done by a professional or individually, using the right approach gives your Music a World difference.
If you are about to mix Your Music(track or album) or you just want to have the fundamental principles of Mixing I'll give you the tips on how to go about it.
For this first edition, I'll only talk about the instruments. A good Sound engineer should have and also know the relevance of these Instruments.
You should have an EQ (equalizer), along side a compressor. A compression on your song reduces the peak and don't forget to turn up the lowest part of the sound. The same way compressor is important, you must also note that over compressing your song will also cause damage. There's a range at which your compressor must be; at 3db to 6db gain reduction at a ratio of 2:1 and 3:1.
Most studios have instruments such as kick, hypersonic, drumsets in softcopy and some studios have both soft and hard Copy. The important thing to note is the level onto which these instruments should be set. For example, high bright guitar should be lower than medium bright guitar.
There's a lot to instruments used for mixing and these are just some fundamental knowledge you should have about sound mixing.
