This is in response to my promise to help a friend who is working at Sistemang Pilipino, Incorporated. A non-profit organization dedicated to helping and providing world-class music education and performance opportunities for Filipino children and youth, with a special focus on those from under-served communities.

It is inspired by “El Sistema” – the pioneering movement for social justice through music which began in Venezuela in 1975 and is now present in over 40 countries around the world.

Sistemang Pilipino, Inc., was founded by Lianne Sala, a violinist, who envisions a nation empowered by music. It aims to create an opportunity for young Filipinos to reach their full potential through the joy of creating beautiful music.

THEIR GOAL

“It is that young person who, penetrated by music, challenged by the musical impulse of the tasks of the orchestra, begins a psychological transformation. We must let ourselves be moved by that art that brings us together – through music, plastic arts, literature, cinema – and begin to recognize ourselves in our essences, our identity – through art, which is the only world where we can find the true revelation of our being. The authentic being is revealed through art as a bearer of beauty, goodness, and truth.”

A Call For Support

Sponsors can help transform the life of a child in particularly difficult conditions. Sponsorship provides resources that go into programs that are usually 15 years in length and are custom-designed to address the needs of the child. Programs are child-focused but also benefit non-sponsored children and families. Sponsors can personally reach out and connect with their supported child through letters and photographs. In turn they get to see and feel the difference their support makes, through the letters and photographs of the child they are sponsoring. All letters and Photographs are coursed through the Center. Sponsors may also decide to visit their sponsored children.
