DJ Khaled’s ‘I’m The One’ Becomes First Rap Song To Debut At #1 In Seven Years
(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled earned the first #1 single of his career with the star-studded “I’m The One.”
The song – which features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne – debuted at the top of the Hot 100.
“I’m The One” became the 28th record to debut at #1 on the chart.
Khaled’s hit is the first rap song to premiere in the top spot on the Hot 100 since 2010.
Eminem’s “Not Afraid” pulled off the feat in May of that year.
The only other Hip Hop singles to land at #1 in its first week are Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” and Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing).”
In addition, DJ Khalid joins Rae Sremmurd (“Black Beatles”), Migos (“Bad and Boujee”) and Kendrick Lamar (“HUMBLE”) as the only lead rap acts to reach the pinnacle of the Hot 100 in 2017 so far.
