Flea Market Find - Japanese Pop Vinyl Record - Mariko - Stormy WeathersteemCreated with Sketch.

in #music7 years ago (edited)

Last year when I was in Nagoya I had the luck of finding a flea market right in front of the Osu Kannon temple: https://goo.gl/maps/kaSNEGFQcBK2 and after rummaging through a couple of stands I found a very friendly old couple selling some old vinyl records.

They were all in excellent condition and very cheap, only 100 Yen each. At the time I got three of them and I regret now not having grabbed the whole pile. When you're flying low cost with Asian companies you can only carry very little weight so that was one of the factors that "weighed" in the decision (pun intended).

One of the records I grabbed was Mariko's Stormy Weather which I've recently uploaded to YouTube:

It's a really cool Japanese pop record by a somewhat unknown idol singer, there wasn't even an entry on Discogs, I had to add it myself. It makes me wonder what kind of other rarities did that old couple have on the piles of records I rummaged through.

The album is in amazing shape and features some really cool photos of Mariko, here are photos of the cover and the insert:

Let me know if you're interested in hearing the other two records I got at this flea market.

If you're a fellow vinyl collector I would also love to know what you're currently hunting for, since I'm in Taiwan my focus is now on late 70s/early 80s Taiwanese soul-funk albums. I got one just a few weeks ago but it's in really rough shape, I will upload the recording once I get it properly cleaned.
