My Music and I

My love for music is something that can't be overemphasized. It all started from a very young age. I could still remember years ago when I wrote my first set of songs, lol. I should have been 13 or 14 then. My elder brother found the little book I used in writing songs, he went through it all and ended up reporting me to our mother!

It wasn't easy ooo. The songs included lots of love songs. I had to lie that the book belonged to a friend of mine! (That's not my handwriting oo!)

Few years later, I went ahead to release a joint single with my buddy Richez titled "Again and again". It was an afro pop song and I rapped the verses while my buddy took the chorus.

You could imagine the pride on my face when I showcased the piece to my friends. But none of my siblings nor my parents had the slightest idea that I visited a studio, talk more of releasing a single! Over the years, I've been featured in many songs but I don't know why I didn't take up music as a career despite the fact that I've been told many times that I rap well. Maybe because I wanted to get my priorities right.

My love for music pushed me to taking up DJ as a hobby. Over the years, I've improved my skills and techniques as a dj. I didn't stop there. I downloaded "Fruity loops", an app that's used to make beats and produce songs. Today, I have almost 100 beats resting in my hard drive, both finished and unfinished. I guess the only limitation to my production abilities is the fact that I can't play the keyboard, but I'll learn 😜.

Music is a language that everyone understands regardless of language barrier!

A good example is this song "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber. The song was rendered in Spanish, but I just can't help grooving to it anytime it comes on.

Now what kinda of music do I like listening to?

It all depends on my mood. My mood dictates the genre of music I listen to at any given time. It could be R&B, blues, pop, afro pop, reggae, gospel etc... There's no genre of music I don't have on my phone. In fact, 50% of my phone memory is occupied by music of different genres.

Will I ever stop listening to music? I don't think so. I often wonder what life was like when there was no music. Music is truly food for the soul!

I have this dream of setting up a world class record label that will keep churning out good music; I definitely will, so help me God.

So if you're my fellow music addict, lol, use the comment box and tell me what genre of music you love most.

I'm still me, #mapens.

I share the same fate with you bro. Ive been practicing dj for a while now but my laptop went bad. It was devastating.

So sorry to hear that @ceemo. I hope you get another one soonest. Being a DJ brings this ecstasy that's somewhat inexplicable, especially when you're on deck!
