Introduction to Music Composition: Lesson 1 Interval Progressions
The Canon Composition series I started in earlier posts is proving to be too advanced for most users. To remedy this I am starting a new series on more fundamental, prerequisite topics in music composition. Here's the first one dealing with
Interval Progressions (PDF -- Piano Edition) (even more fundamental than chord progressions).
Interval Progressions (PDF -- Guitar Edition).
Also a .wav audio file to accompany the PDF file -- Interval Progressions (WAV). It is intended that the audio file is listened to while looking at the PDF file. (By itself the audio file is meaningless.) Or you might want to use the Ogg file instead (smaller, compressed format), or the AIFF file for Apple folks. The smallest by far would be the MIDI file.
I also plan to modify the counterpoint theory to add audio examples. This Interval Progressions lesson is the first step in that direction. Enjoy!
