🎸 The Beauty of Instrumental Rock / The Best Albums of Last 35 Years 🎸

in #music6 years ago (edited)

Hi dear steemians. Today i am going to share my favorite electric guitarists' best instrumental albums throughout the last 35 years. As you can guess, i am a hardcore fan of this kind of instrumental rock/metal or jazz fusion/metal genre. I like the way how each of these wonderful guitarists show their vision and express their technical/musical abilites with this magical instrument. The clean and distortion tones, dozens of different techniques, beautiful melodies, diversity of emotions, unique playing styles, virtuosity, combination of different genres etc... There is no need for a vocal layer in this music, obviously the guitars speak itself. These musicians make it happen via guitar solos, and i love it.

Sometimes i find myself lost in Youtube watching a lot of talented guitarists in succession for hours. From proffessionals to non-professional bedroom guitarists. You can see their dedication, satisfaction, devotion and connection to this instrumental music by looking at their body language and facial gestures while watching. This guitar music really takes us into a heavenly place where we really feel out of this world.

Long story short, beginning from the year 1984 to nowadays, i made a list of my favorite instrumental rock/metal albums. Each guitarist/band will have only one album in the list, otherwise it would be literally an unending list for me. ;) When listening to these fabulous albums, you will see the changing of musical approaches and sounds throughout the years. During 80s neoclassical influences are heavily seen, when the time comes to 90s the guitarists are trying to get their sound out of generic rock 'n roll/heavy metal circle. With the 2000s, we see the 7th string using at the guitars, even the 8th string or tuned down guitars for djent tone in 2010s. The world is changing, the zeitgeist of the world is changing, so it is very normal to expect an evolution at the guitar scene too. As the years go by, the intensity and heaviness of the rock-metal sound is being observed.

Before passing directly to my list, i should share my top-notch/favourite guitarists with you. I can say too many names, but these people are really special for me, especially Joe Satriani. I love his skills about creating meodies, guitar control, note choice, nuance, subtlety and composition. He is my all time Nr.1 and he'll always be. The other beloved ones are Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Andy Timmons, Tosin Abasi, Fredrik Thordendal, Marty Friedman, Tymon Kruidenier, Greg Howe, John Petrucci, Eric Johnson... And it goes on like that... These names are the peak points of creativity, phrasing, bending, feel, vibrato, tone and variety.
