The Saxophone(A brass and woodwind instrument)
]
The Saxophone is one of the few instruments which was invented. The basic design of this instrument has never been changed, although many improvements have been made. The normal register of the Saxophone has been extended slightly.
Although acceptance of this instrument has been slow in the concert orchestra, it's use in the concert band, as a solo instrument and one of the major jazz instruments is now well established.
The Saxophone family consists of :
Soprano in Bb
Alto inEb
Tenor in Bb
Baritone inEb
Bass in Bb
And other cousins of the family, not considered standard, but from time to time have achieved various degrees of popularity.
Saxophone has three main parts
The Neck eck
The Mouthpiece outhpiece
The Reed
The mouthpieces are made of hard rubber, glass, metal and plastic.
All mouthpieces should be cleaned after each use.
The Reed functions as an air valve which opens and closes on the mouthpiece at various speeds. The reed changes it's rate of vibration with every new pitch.
Don't forget to keep your body relaxed and in good position while playing, and concentrate on you (the instrumentalist) and the Saxophone (the instrument).
If you were thinking about not learning how to play brass or woodwind instruments(like the Saxophone), please think again.
Wish you the best of luck
