Throwback: Snoop Dogg performs "Lodi Dodi" on SNL (1994)
Love this SNL clip of early Snoop Dogg doing his breakout hit "Lodi Dodi" off his record Doggy Style. Doing it with a full band and back up singers really elevates the live performance for me. Especially vibe the dudes in his crew just hanging back on the drum riser doing their thing. I'm far from a rap connoisseur, but I was really liked this song. Awesome performance.
I was inspired to find this clip after listening to a podcast with Andy Hilfiger where he talks about how this was a turning point for his brothers clothing line. Snoop rocked it on TV and then the following week people flocked to Tommy stores. Seems like rap/hip-hop really has an unmatched effect on endorsing brands.
This song is a rendition of the Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh song "La Di Da Di". I'll attach that video as well!
