Good morning/afternoon/evening my dear Steemers.. Steemiters? Steemitians?...

My name's Edmund, and I'm a UK Based, 19 year old, producer. I got to the point where I probably have 2 other blogs left about my final beat tape (which I released a few months ago) and I'm working on tons of new stuff (especially now that I've finished my exams)... But I'm not here to discuss that.

In this thread, I'll be discussing the first part of my second beat tape. Of course, you can access the first blog I made about my first part of this tape if you missed it (https://steemit.com/steemit/@reddutopia/redd-utopia-my-second-beat-tape-trip-hop-or-jazz-or-glitch-or-trap-part-1)

In the same way I did before, I'll be embedding the music so you don't have to quit the app if you're on eSteem, and giving my own input on it as it might gives you guys an extra insight into what I've been doing. Of course, if you enjoy it, please take an extra few seconds to upvote/repost

Finally, I called this tape "What Happens When I'm bored", as I made the Tape within 2 weeks in March, while at university, at a time where I didn't have that many hours of lectures and could spend my time producing.

But enough time wasted, here's the real deal.

7- Roses:
So I played around with a electronic Piano (the lead), stacked effects on it to make it a bit muffled, and reverb (and some other instruments. You need to know how much I love reverb). I found this pluck, added some reverb, again, and started making the drums. At this point, I had most of the track, but I felt like something was missing so I went back to this Jazz/Sax pack I talked about in my previous post, and found this one note I played around with. I really liked making the vibe last at the end, for a few 20 seconds where the Bass, Sax and Drums just float around

.
8 - The Hunt:
So here you're getting to what I'd call one of my first 'Bangers' (UK = Dope tracks). Quite basic, Fat Bass, Trap Drums (of crourse, playing around with the HiHat, which now that I realise could've been more powerful), and this distorted lead. I also added Gross Beat on the Master Channel. I'll be talking every now and then about this plugin. It enables me to Slow down a sample or just glitch up the timing. At the end, I felt like "Why not add some guys going HEYYYYY", and that's it!

.
9 - Treasure:
For this one, I found this very trippy sample, added some reverb to it and muffled some frequencies to make it 'ghostly'. The idea was to then get the pluck/lead to start coming, but slowly enough so you're not ready for the bass hit. When that bass comes, and drums start being regular, with the HiHat just sizzling up, I just add some random effects so it's changing. I always tried to follow the Intro/Build/Drop/Bridge/Build/Drop/Outro, but I play around with it (more now than then). Normally this method gets my beats around 2/3 mn, but here I maintained it, cause I didn't get bored of the vibe, so let's go for the #4:20 mn mark!

.
10- Thai Rap:
I have this one pack of samples and sounds called "Kanye Yeezus". I'm not a big Kanye Fan but I respect him so much as a producer. But any ways... Going off-track.. This track is basically some really trippy/reverb-y/ambient Trap. Basic Bass/Drums, Lead with the reverb, pluck with reverb, both panned differently. When the drop comes, this one random sample I found somewhere comes in, floating on the Bass/Drums with the pluck behind. I also Had this Pad with Attack (so it takes longer to come in instead of "hitting") that was bass-y enough to be useful when the Bass wasn't there.

.
11- sTAR wAY:
Last one of the Beat Tape. Star Away is one of those vibes that gets me thinking about the Night Sky, where there's no light pollution so you see everything! I had this small sample of.. like a high pitch guitar.. or something, I couldn't tell honestly. I just played with the sound to make it more Harp-y, and the Bass/Piano combination just sits behind, with vibrant drums. Here, the HiHat is not as important as in other tracks, which makes it feel a bit more "sat-down", like the track's got all the time in the world to show what it's got, so no reason to rush. If I had to remake it today, I'd specifically rework the Piano so it feels more supportive and ambient, but dope anyways!

.
So here was the second part of my second Beat Tape (made nearly a year ago). And looking back at it and trying to find how I came up with some sounds or ideas is always quite entertaining, and makes me realise how far I've came in just 9/10 months.

I'll soon be posting the 3rd Tape later in the month.
Of course, you don't have to wait for me to post about the rest, just check them out here if you're digging my vibe: https://soundcloud.com/far-from-utopia

Thanks for reading through all this mumble jumble, It's a tough one to know how much you guys know about producing, and trying to find the accurate words. Of course, let me know if you think I can do better, or you have questions!

I also might start making videos of producing specific tracks, or even streaming. Let me know if you'd be interested and if you know the best Blockchain platforms for streaming. One working on the Steem Blockchain would be LIT!

Have a great day, and best of luck in any activities you'll be throwing yourselves in!

Check out the great posts I already resteemed.

Interesting tracks. I especially liked #11, Star Way. It was very chill. The way the track quietly shifted back and forth from a clear to a muted sound was nice. Are you making any of your tracks available for filmmakers to use? Keep up the good work. Upvoted, followed and resteemed!

Thanks a lot. I always enjoy hearing other people's views on my music. Feedback helps to grow.
I do make my music available for filmmaking or any other type of videomaking. But I'd rather get contacted beforehand to discuss it civilly. Thanks for the support, will see you around!
