Music Monday (feel free to add your own music)
Every Monday I intend to post a music video (and a few words explaining my choice) I invite you to join me by doing same in the comments section below. As the forum (hopefully) grows my aim is that we begin to inspire our fellow Steemians to broaden their musical horizons by listening to the music that inspires us. The only thing I ask is that (where possible) every song we listen to is played nice and loudly on headphones or speakers in order that we capture it’s true essence.
As more Steemians join this venture there is also going to be the possibility of being rewarded for our musical tastes via the amount of upvotes each song receives. That said please never feel awkward about posting a track, a guilty pleasure or even your own musical ventures. I have an extremely wide range of musical interests but also understand that music like beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. As such I may play my chosen song, but who am I to define what constitutes good music.

Considering the economic shit storm on the horizon I thought this song was appropriate. Not just appropriate but awesome too!
Pink Floyd - Money
Timeless dude.
Man this is an absolute classic .. you're right it is timeless, equally it defines our time! What a genius band they were .. Roger had it all worked out ;) Another inspired choice of musical genius, thank you for sharing @tremendospercy
I like your song choice, it has a retro feel to it but doesn't sound "outdated"!
This has a bit more of a laid back Saturday or Sunday feel to it which I think has the perfect weekend-nostalgia feeling needed on a Monday.
I like not only Mos Def's music but also his lyrics, which tend to stay true to the old school prose style of hip-hop vs the modern machine-gun random word rhyming.
The sometimes opinionated lyrics, can open up your mind to someone else's perspective. Allowing you to better understand where they're coming from and hopefully change your perception of them or their views. And it tends to does so without a lot of the violence and crime aspect.
Hey great choice this week @hrissm Mos Def is a great hip-hop artist .. One of the last great intelligent rappers who actually had something to say .. takes me back to the days of KRS-ONE where hip-hop really meant something. Thank you for the music!
Yw! Glad to contribute! Music is a wonderful medium!
In she came with the same type game the type of girl giving out the fake cell phone and name! Classic Mos Def!
Mos Def is the homeboy
love Mos Def<3
: )
.
Happy Monday my friend
For some reason your Growlers song made me think of this...
Happy Monday @onetruebrother! Yes, I can see what you're saying .. they have a similar vibe going on. Excellent stuff .. I really enjoyed this track and although I've never heard these before ... that situation will be rectified :) Thank you for the music my friend.
DEVO :)
Hey mate sorry to hit you up here and be off topic in a thread, but I sent you a message on discord if you get a chance - cheers :D
If retro music, then this is the perfect clip.
I think he perfectly shows the whole system of England.
haha, this is one of my 8yearolds fav songs xD
It's almost unfair to post this as it's virtually a guaranteed upvote. What a classic and also how relevant is this song to today!?
Absolutely. Who was the Queen of England when the video came out? The ruling family has changed? Lords are brought to trial?
Brilliant track from (for my money) one of the best albums of all time .. an excellent choice and one that I haven't heard for a while and so really enjoyed listening to. Thank you for the music
I have a question, if you can. If I correctly translated your text are you Socialists? If this is true, if you have time, then I would like to talk with you. Maybe not personally with you, but by the person who answers these questions. Thank you for any of your answers.
Never heard your song/artist, love it man.
Here's mine:
Charles & Menahan Street Band
First time hearing him, but won't be the last, thanks!
Soulful
What a voice! That voice has experienced pain and struggle.
Great choice @jakeybrown .. glad you liked mine. I really enjoyed this track! the beats are spot on .. and he sounds so smooth yet powerful .. the voice of experience! An inspired choice my friend .. thank you for the music.
Loving the beat and that accoustic - as though from deep in a well. Mine is an old man at peace in the winter of his life :)
Excellent choice @ricia who doesn't love a bit of Leonard's Helleluah .. epic and stirring stuff!! You can almost taste the contentment of a life lived to it's very fullest. Thank you for the music my friend .. I really enoyed this!!
Cheers my friend. He was magic in his own way.
ahhh hallelujah! I used to sing this to my eldest as one of his bed time lullaby's <3 gets me a little too weepy sometimes though hehe
Yes @amymya, I get very emotional listening to it too, especially when sung by the old author, who was famous for his sad dirges. However, he has a way of teaching us about ourselves nevertheless and sadness is very human. He said that in his view, all Hallelujahs have equal value, whether they be perfect or broken. I liked that :)
Great song! I've never heard of the Growlers before. I'm in a funky mood tonight, so I chose this:
Hey @natubat love this!! Funky as hell .. and in my eyes that's a very good thing! They certainly don't make them like this anymore. Do you ever listen to any Funkadelic? .. another great band and the progenitors of much modern music. Thank you for his inspired choice .. ust what I need to get me going this morning!!
I LOVE Funkadelic!
Loving the funk on this one!!
SuperCat is Ghetto Red Hot in this jam. He's also well known for Dolly My Baby and Don Dada. Interesting fact is that he's half Indian (from India) and half Jamaican. His brother Junior Cat is also dope. Unfortunately this Hip Hop Remix of the song doesn't have a video. Still dope AF.
Brilliant @patricorayaz .. timeless beats and this whole era (for me) marked a high tide mark for hip-hop. I'e never heard of supercat before but after this track I will be sure to delve into his back catalogue .. Thank you for the music!!
My musical taste regarding Hip Hop is in a time warp stuck in the early 90's. It was the Golden Era of HH in my opinion. Surprised you've never heard of SuperCat. Check out Dolly My Baby and Don Dada.
Oh go on then brother, have 1 of my favourite 60`s tunes, I am going for a less serious sound tonight, as life is serious enough as it is, hope I find you well my friend.
Now you're talking ;) (And I was deadly serious about the small faces as a schoolgirl)
I was only 1 when the song came out, I got into it in around 1979 I suppose. :-)
Yes, you posted your age a while ago - I am the oldie in the music room ;)
Excellent choice my friend! I grew up listening to the small faces and humble pie and this is just such feel good track! All good here thank you, hope you're also well. Thank you for the music @deliberator
Oasis deserve so much more credit, they should be considered to be up there with the likes of Elvis and the Beatles. Not only did they define there generation but almost every song they ever produced was great in one way or another. They were probably the most consistently brilliant band of all time.
And this song is one proof of all the reasons why they should be proud of. Let's nostalgia together through the Oasis song, "Don't Look Back in Anger".
Yes, I think you are right. Such a shame they look back in anger at each other though :(
Thank you @ricia for your agreement with my opinion
Great choice this week @rial17 .. and you're right the music of Oasis really did define a generation .. my generation :) I was lucky to enough to catch these guys live a couple of times, once when they were just starting out and another time just before they broke up. I must say their stage presence was something else and the held the audience in the palm of their hands. Thank you for the music .. I really enjoyed this trip down memor lane!
You are very lucky to have experience from big bands like Oasis. while my generation only has Oasis songs as memories to remember. While your generation have felt the glory of Oasis in the past. You're the lucky one my friend @perceptualflaws
