★LOCATION & DESCRIPTION OF SURA MOSQUE★

One of the most striking signs of architectural heritage is the Surah Mosque at Ghoraghat. The mosque is located about five miles west of Ghoraghat and about 12 miles east of Hilly on the Charagacho Mouza on either side of the Hilly-Ghoraghat road. Some say the mosque is Surah Mosque and some say Shuja Mosque. No researcher has revealed why the mosque was named Surah or Shuja. The name of the mosque does not have any proper instrument of Surah or Shuja. However, many researchers have speculated that the mosque was built during the Hussein Shahi period. Researchers Akamo Zakaria and Syed Mahmudul Hasan agree that the construction of the mosque, the lawn and kusumba of the Gaur, Sunia Dighi Mosque, was built during the Sultanate period and Hussein Shahi period.

Rokhasana Begum, executive officer of Ghoraghat Upazila, has constructed a binding gateway to settle the pond. About one hundred feet south-west of the Dighi Ghat, there is a flat platform about four feet high, on the south side of the south bank of the Dighi and on the north side of the Sadar road. On the western side of the platform is the Surah Mosque, the most unique architectural architecture of Sultanate Bengal. The mosque has a square domed prayer room and a small three-domed porch on the east. The mosque is still intact. As a result, prayers are offered here with Jumma.

★HISTORY
There are many folk tales about this mosque. No exact information was found. Locally, Jinnah built it in one night, hence its name is Surah Mosque. Some say it is the Solar Mosque, the Sura Mosque, and others say the Shah shurja mosque.

★ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
Small terracotta terracotta ornamentation on the exterior walls of the mosque enhances the exterior beauty of the building and the exterior walls are adorned with lattajajinavinb designs that attract the attention of tourists.
