🌟 My 2017: Achievements and Failures (aka life lessons) 🌟

in #my20177 years ago (edited)

@anomadsoul is hosting a “My 2017” contest, and I am excited to be a part of it! Every week, you will have the option to participate by writing a post about the subject chosen by @anomadsoul. This week’s topic is “achievements and failures.”

First off, I just want to say that I think it is always a great idea to step back and reflect on your life. This will help you assess your life and see if your goals align with what you are currently doing. If you are unhappy with your life, now is the opportunity to change it. You are in control of your own destiny!

Lets start with the Achievements (I’m a glass half full kinda gal):

#1. Attending Steemfest!

It was a goal of mine to make it Steemfest with @acromott even though we were on a budget. With the help of @blueorgy, we were able to win one ticket to Steemfest and that helped out a lot! We took flights that had 4 to 6 hour delays to help save money, and we found cheap places to stay. It felt good to work within our budget and achieve the goal of flying to Steemfest. As a result, we made so many new friends!

#2. Achieving a big acroyoga goal!

When I first got into acroyoga two years ago, I saw @acromott and his acro partner do standing hand to hand for the first time. I had never seen anything like it, and I thought to myself, “wow they are so strong, I could never do this.” Well, when I started my acroyoga journey, I realized that I could do much more than I gave myself credit for. It became a goal to work up to standing hand to hand. After lots of practice good spotting from @threebagfulls, I was able to achieve this goal last week! It feels good to be able to achieve a goal that I thought was near impossible!

Here is a clip below.

#3. Living life to it’s fullest

I always try my best to follow my heart and pursue my passions. This has allowed me to live a life with zero regrets.

2017 has been an awesome year for me to continue to expand my business and pursue my passion for art. This was the first year I started selling my coloring book for adults “Life of the Wild” and my greeting card line in local stores and at the farmer’s market. It has been awesome to work towards my goal of growing my small business.

Life lessons aka “failures”

#1. Breaking my collarbone

I know it was a freak accident, but I would consider that a total “fail.” It really was hard to sit on the sidelines for 3 months, and not do any acroyoga. On the bright side, I got to work on my mental game of keeping positive and I got to watch a lot of Game of Thrones.

#2. Not visiting my family enough

Due to work, and having limited time off, I did not get to visit my family as often as I would have liked. My family lives in Texas and I live in California. It has been 3 years since I have been back for Christmas. Now that my work situation has changed, I am happy to say I will be spending Christmas with them!

#3. Business failure

I’m sure we can all relate to this, as many of us are bloggers on Steemit. It is so easy to overlook spelling errors and typos. Well, onetime I was printing a batch of greeting cards, and I totally spelled “llama” “lama.” It was horrible to see so many greeting card misprinted. Lesson learned, DOUBLE CHECK your work!

Anyways, special thanks to @anomadsoul for hosting this competition! I’m happy that I got the opportunity reflect on my failures and achievements!

Wonderful post and what a year you have had!!

A year filled with adventure! :)

@karensuestudios that acro pose was amazing! I can only imagine what kind of strength is required to do something like that.

Exciting that you were able to get to Steemfest! It's such an exciting time for crypto and amazing to see that you were able to take a firsthand approach to this amazing and evolving platform!

I totally hear you on the business mistakes. I've made many this year, taken so many risks, created so many things. I think in the end... we need to mess up and mess up often. As with life... it's how we learn.

Some days that's easier to accept than others!

Thanks so much for the inspiring post here Karen! Would love to hear your thoughts regarding my recent post about dealing with major life obstacles: Will You Open Your Gifts In Strange Wrapping Paper?

Yes! Training hard pays off in the long run!

Steemfest was so much fun, you should go to it next year!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll have to check out your post.

I just may! I saw a bunch of different posts from it and it looks like a fun time. Cheers!

Great review!

This is a year lived...thanks for sharing.
