My 2018 - This is my Hobby: Playing Music Or Doing Something About it.

I am writing this to follow the contest organized by @anomadsoul and this time I will tell about my hobbies.
I have a lot of hobbies such as music and sports (futsal or football) but this time I will discuss one of them that is music. Music is a hobby that has been visible from my age at 10 year old, it’s start from i collecting some of my favorite band cassette tapes until watch some concerts held in my area. At the age of 14 years I was interested in some types of musical instruments namely piano or keyboard, guitar, drums and saxophone. I chose the guitar for study because some of the above musical instruments hard to find in my environment and expensive to obtain. I started playing guitar at the age of 14 years old. I studied the guitar autodidactically through the guidebook I got from my neighbor. But I think just sticking to the incomplete guidebook feels less satisfactory and I decided to follow the guitar course only 2 months at the age of 17 years. By that time I had formed a band with my classmates during my school period in junior high school which continues until now although it is rarely jamming together again.

Once I feel my ability is enough to played some songs, we agree to make this hobby more seriously. We plan to follow some band competition held in our city to hone our music skills. Dozens of band competition we attended and it continued until we finished from high school. After a long time playing many band competition, we received our first job as a performer in an automotive product launching event and we accept it with pleasure. We also did not close the possibility to follow the band festifal event if there are held in place and time different.

Starting from the first job, I think our hobby in music can be used as a side job to earn income. My band's friends also agreed and we tried to offer our music also some performance video to some people who were in need of some bands as performers. As time goes by, some work comes by itself and I am so happy because my hobby in music can make money.

I get a first custom electric guitar from my father that I use everyday to practice at home.
Money from work and gifts from some band competition that we won I save to buy new guitar little by little. After the money was collected, I finally decided to buy a Squier Telecaster electric guitar that I wanted. The guitar is black with a white pick guard attached to the guitar body.

The day I held the guitar for the first time, was the happiest day for me, because I could buy my own guitar from playing music. Opps, I forgot to tell in the beginning, me and the band played the alternative rock music genre, rock n roll as well as some Japanese rock songs because all the band members have the same musical taste. Counting from high school, I've been playing in a band for nine years. I think it's a long time for a newbie musician like me. Playing in a band initially was not my desire because I really want to be a music producer. But, time over time I feel enjoyed to play music in a band. My band has 5 members who have different personalities but our music references are the same and that makes us feel aligned.

In a band there must be a conflict that sometimes has to be faced, this is the thing that I do not like but still must be faced in a good way to end in well situation. Two years back I've rarely played in a band due to busy other personnel with their daily activities. Because music is my hobby, I continue to do various things related to music like making some songs that I process myself at my friend's house. We create a side project with a mission just moving only via the internet just like sharing songs on platforms like Soundcloud, Bandcamp and the others platform in same way. My hobby in music also I do it through the writing, one of them like my post before his post, a little review about the concert Chester Tribute from Linkin Park. In addition I also wrote some tips for maintaining music tools, especially guitars on my blog and some things about music such as review songs and simple tutorials to play the guitar.

Until now, there are some things that have not been achieved in my musical hobby like i want to have a good played on the piano. I think the piano or keyboard is hard to learn because of the many keys, to remember the position of the finger on the keys to form a chord seems also very difficult. I will keep trying to learn it in every opportunity to learn it. So hard to played piano for me, seriously -_-.

I think music is my passion, because it is very fun when playing music. Playing in a band, creating some tones to play is very fun, but some things make me have to delay it and make it just a hobby that I will do when there’s time to spare. Very wanting to make my hobby become a daily work seems too difficult for me especially in my province (Aceh,Indonesia). Moving to the capital to look for opportunities was very minimal chance although there are some people managed to do it. I think that's just the story about my hobby and the journey. Because it is definitely a very enjoyable hobby to live, but there are some things that can definitely delay the hobby itself. The point is all we have to condition and run well. Because the paid hobby is the most fun things, but it does not matter if the hobby does not have an income as long as it's fun to do.
