Surfing In the Philippines!
The Philippines is located near the South Pacific Ocean, that means that there are huge waves crashing into the eastern islands of the country.
This was the time where 1-2 meter waves visit the island of Calicoan in Eastern Samar. This was during Monsoon Season (Typhoon Season) during September - March.
This time, was a small surfing competition where local surfers compete. I only got a few shots of them as I hurried to get back to the place I was staying because there was a storm coming.

Astig sir. I haven't really watched people surf before except from some movies on TV. Bet it would be awesome in person. I wonder what surfing the waves feel.
Do you surf too?
@jeanelleybee have tried surfing @deveerei. Well she had tried lots of things lol
I thought of trying. It's the thought that counts.
thanks! yep. been going to those places for quite sometime na. lol.. but my surfing skill level is still 4/10... i prefer taking pictures though.. hehe
At least you have skill. I'm at zero. Haha. Pero astig ng photos.
Thanks! :)
I didn't know surfing was a thing in Samar! We always hear about Siargao. Cool photos! We tried to surf in Pagudpud before but got scared by how big the waves looked.
There is surfing in Pagudpud?? There's one in La Union.
Yes there is! But mostly we kayaked and watched the fishermen trying to catch squid/octopus. Then we bought it from them and ate it.
Much more exciting to have catch them yourselves lolsss
And octopus?? Makapet sila.
Haha yes kahit luto na makapit haha.
I prefer Samar compared to the crowded Siargao. It's more peaceful and not much surfers around trying to steal your waves.. lol... Hope I could visit the place again this year. :) You really should try surfing.. All the pain and cuts are worth it.. lol
Hi @jamiz! I'm part of the curation project in search of quality, original content from Pinoy steemians. I've been visiting the pages of Filipino steemians as a start. The PH curation team will be looking for articles using the #philippines tag, you may want to consider including the tag on your future posts so other members can find your work in case I miss them. Congratulations and keep on steeming!
