Spending the day at the New River Gorge

Murder Dog and I took a drive over to the New River Gorge in West Virginia to do some exploring. We found some beautiful waterfalls, scenic views, and even some wildlife willing to pose for a picture. We will definitely be returning to this area again!

These were taken at Cathedral Falls, which we stumbled upon while driving along the Kanawha River. There were a number of these little alcoves of beauty carved into the wall of rock opposite the river. We couldn't even stop at them all!

Our next stop was Kanawha Falls. There was a boat ramp and plenty of places to fish, but we had neither the time nor tools for either. We opted for some photos and a little walk, instead, before we continued on our way!

After the Falls, we headed deeper into the woods on a search for some of the Ghost Towns that are said to litter the Gorge. We didn't find any of the towns, but we did have a fun ride down some backwoods roads and came across a number of rather friendly locals. We'll have to try again soon!

After giving up the ghost (pun intended), we decided to go for a hike instead. We came across an entrance to the Endless Wall Trail, so we decided to check it out. Our little exploration turned into a 5+ mile hike, but it was well worth it. I even found the perfect place to record a vlog!

After our hike, we took another little drive to check out a nearby free campsite. It turned out to be close to Summersville Lake, so we took a few more moments to enjoy our surroundings before finally heading back to our lodgings for the night.

This is definitely a place that we will be visiting again. There is so much to explore down by the Gorge that it can't possibly be fit into a day or two!
