CASE 001 - Mother Nature Vs Man

in #nature8 years ago (edited)

Mother nature have been serving man since the beginning of his existence. Yet all she gain is pains and sufferings pushing her to the brink of extinction. With time, man enjoys his life, advancing in skills and technologies and also increasing in population while she faces extinction.

With the situation getting out of hand, there is only one choice left. Bring man to justice!

THE CASE BETWEEN MOTHER NATURE AND MAN

Plaintiff- Mother nature
Defendant- Man

And here it goes,
Man is accused of attempting to commit murder and possible set up a massacre of which he has been able to attain to some level.

Evidences to support her claim:

• Deforestation
• Logging
• Incessant hunting of wildlife

• Destruction of landscapes
• Construction of buildings and structures,( e.g homes, industries, plants ) at the expense of the diverse species of wide life existing there before
• Causing of natural disasters through his mining activities
And worst of all

• Pollution of the atmosphere(air), lands and water bodies through his inventions, domestic and industrial activities.
All of these changes or alters the balance in the ecosystem at large.
And here are the witnesses:
• Wild cats

• Rhinos
• Aquatic animals
• Birds

• Forests
• Other landscapes

As you can see, some of these witnesses are struggling to survive the hardships they've faced in the hands of men. Even the disappearance of their friends still remain fresh in their thoughts.

The thoughts are,

Why should man improve his style and standard of living at the expense of others? Is that not a wicked act?
Or is it actually man's fault? Is he compelled to do so or does he do it willingly?

And now to man himself,

Are you guilty of the charges brought against you by mother nature?
What do you have to say for yourself?

Over to you! Have you wronged nature? And what are you doing to correct it?

I think I'll argue a case for Man, if you'll excuse me for taking a rather extreme angle in counterpoint...

Mother Nature is red in tooth and claw. The state where she rules with no intervention by man was named by Thomas Hobbes as bellum omnium contra omnes; the war of all against all.

Through ten thousand years of struggle, Man has won that war, at least over that part of nature that covers a thin layer of the surface of this pale blue dot. We cooperate with each other, we drain swamps, we dam rivers, we level mountains. The predators that once stalked us in the night, we have ourselves hunted to near extinction. Some of nature's terrors still plague us, and the fight is ongoing, but it is one which we are winning. Polio is soon to go the way of Smallpox, and one day Malaria is sure to follow, whether or not we must also bring extinction to the mosquitos that carry it. This is our manifest destiny.

If Mother Nature forgets where she stands when she pleads her case, the response should be the same as that Brennus gave at the gates of Rome: Vae victis.
