BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

Hello steemians
I want to write on something that gets everyone's attention once they meet me for the first time.
Yea,I meet people everyday like everyone would on a daily basis & they all seem to notice the same thing about me and that is my skin colour.
So some people say Ebony black, some say "black queen" or melanin, while others just say to me,you're really dark, and what have you. But whatever the case is, they all are saying the same thing,"Black is beautiful "
How true this is. I am really !

proud of my colour and I celebrate it every where I am. Which is why I'm taking out time to write this piece in dedication to all the black/dark people out there.

seen on my skin even when they are there and this is the same for all dark skinned.
So I made some research and I found out that these few facts.
Humans or people with dark skin are naturally blessed with melanin (especially eumelanin)and have more melanosome which is responsible for providing a superior protection against the deleterious effects of ultraviolet radiation.
This helps the body to retain its folate reserves and protects against damage to the DNA.
Dark skins also adapts to sunlight easily because of the increased quantity of a pigment (melanin)that it possesses. This helps to keep us(dark skinned)safer.
Melanin along with other factors, acts as a “natural umbrella” and prevents harmful radiation from entering your skin. These are just some of the reasons why black skin is safe and beautiful.
Here are some reasons why you should be glad that you are dark skinned:

#. We are less prone to sunburns.
Being dark skinned allows you to spend a much longer time on the beach and probably never ever experienced any blister due to sunlight.
#. Because of the content of melanin pigment in the skin, you do not have to worry about skin cancer.
#. Being dark skinned also conceals a whole lot of things on the skin and for us. Like having eczema and someone mistaking it for a birth mark,or like being in the dark and no one gets to notice you're there easily accept you make sound,or even being hit and you don't get to change colour, Lol.
#. Also it also keeps us looking younger than our real age. I mean look at late Ruby Dee in her early 90s

#.We also are very stable and consistent people.ie,we are not easily moved by almost anything, (we are Strong) like cold, sun etc "black don't crack".
#.It also makes our teeth look or appear whiter.
Here's a photo diagram that futhers explains this.

However,I did find out one disadvantage though, which is the deficiency in Vitamin D.
Since your skin is effective in shielding you from sunlight which is required for the production of Vitamin D we are more prone to this deficiency.
So get to your dermatologist for advice and that's pretty much it. Also Stay away from skin brightening creams, since many of them contain compounds which permanently damage your skin and organs. Make it a point to consult your dermatologist before putting any medication on your skin. Be proud and celebrate yourself everywhere you go,cause," black is beautiful /handsome".
