Children celebrating mothers!

in #nature7 years ago

In an era where motherhood is becoming so politicized, with questions roiling about having a career versus staying at home, breast-feeding versus the bottle -- even dinner-time choices are scrutinized -- we decided to ask Steemits to write something about their mothers, drop your comments about your mother! For me my mum rocks, i still misses her!IMG_20170630_095905_367.JPG
'She gives all she has to us, and more'
My mother's most generous gift is giving all her time and self to my family.
Some background, my parents are immigrants from South Korea. They came here with little more than the clothes on their backs and have raised my brother and I the best way they know how with the little that they had, and that includes time. My parents had their own business and never had enough time for us. That is all in the past, and while I appreciate what they did before, they are even more giving now. Eight years ago ... my mother let me marry a man from South Korea, even though she had her misgivings. I was born and raised in America and am an American in every way, but went and married a Korean man. Through it all, my mother has stood by me and helped us in our struggle to survive, both as a couple and as parents in America. When we came to the states, my husband did not speak English. He was unsure of himself and was not able to find a job. My parents provided a roof for us. We only had one car, my parents gave us one of their spare cars. I don't know how to cook Korean food, so my mother slaved over a stove, after she came home from her work, to give him a traditional Korean meal every night. When we felt that we were able to move out on our own, my parents gave us a loan to buy a home. They gave us one of their vehicles to take with us to our new home. When I went back to work after my second child was born, my mother closed her business and took care of my children so that I could work full-time. To this day, she still watches my children and takes my daughter to and from school. We have purchased a larger home and my parents are still supporting us through this endeavor with their tips and tricks of being homeowners. My mother has no boundaries to the love she gives my family and even though we no longer live with her, she still sends home food for my husband so that he doesn't miss Korea so much.
That is how generous my mother is. She gives all she has to us, and more.

Generosity in tough times
I remember as a young child, times were financially hard in our family. Mom would sometimes have to borrow my allowance money to make ends meet at the end of the week. Still once a month, she would buy some steaks and would grill them up for Dad and I (she knew I loved steak), and would end up giving me half of hers because I would want more. I was too young to completely understand what she was doing. But, as I became "married with children," I came to understand the sacrifices parents make for their kids.

A mother's message of strength
I just opened my morning newspaper to your article [The Des Moines Register recently published a piece asking for reader recollections for Mother's Day] I read after the piece [about the] SEP Vigil on students addressing bullying. After reading the Southeast Polk article, my mind raced back to my own years at SEP. Going to school there in the late 60's and early 70's, I, myself, was a victim of bullying. But in those times, that [was] not what it was called. I was born with a speech impediment. Born with a cleft palette that impaired my speech dramatically. Yes, I was made fun of many many times. But I do attribute my strength and courage to my mother. She knew I had to be prepared for my adult life. She encouraged me to step forward and always speak for myself, make my own doctor appointments, hair appointments and step forward in public places.
She gave me such self worth and encouraged me to pursue my dreams. My dream of dance. I now have been in the dance business for 43 years. I own a dance studio for children and owe a lot of this success to my mother. Your tender article brought tears to my eyes. Seeing your mother as mine, trying to do the best for their daughters. With all these issues on bullying, sometimes I think parents and families need to step in early and focus on their children's self worth. It starts in the home. To build confidence and integrity. We need to make our children strong.

My mother is the best gift I have ever had...I was born a twin and my mother told me stories of what my brother & I did to her breasts suckling out the life in her but she stil endured giving us fresh breast milk till we were old enough to change for solid foods
My mum watched over us all through neonate till high school even til adult ensuring we get married and succeed in life.
She can be troublesome most of the time when she wants us to achieve something but in the end we later find out its for our own good
She feeds us the best way she can and gives her own share just to make us have enough
My mother has taken care of all seven of us making sure we are what we turned out to be..
Mine...yes my mum is a super mum & I love her sooo so much...
