Van Camping in Wyoming

in #nature6 years ago

What's up Steem Team?! Things are pretty hot and dry here in norcal, got me thinking about the wet and cool weather while camping in Wyoming on the way home from our road trip. After a long day of driving through beautiful mountains and heavy downpours, @joleenwillis and I reached our destination for the night. The 10 mile dirt and gravel road up to the hot spring was a little sketchy in some spots because of the rain, but we made it!

The main attraction was a big ole swimming pool hot spring that flows from the granite mountain side--hence the name Granite Hot Springs. This spring was built up in the 1930's into a big swimming pool, and is still maintained today--for a small fee you can soak as long as you want! I didn't bring a camera up to the spring, so I snagged this one from the interwebs.

After our soak we headed a ways back down the road, exploring some of the side trails until we found the perfect camp spot overlooking the winding river. The rain let up and the dogs got to run around hunting ground squirrels until they were exhausted and it was time for bed.
