1. Not Social Awkward

Lions are the only living cat species known to be social, they live in a group called Pride. With usually one male as the leader -- and in some rare case there can even be 3 males.

2. Hear Them Roar!

A Lion's roar is loud and intimidating, one of the most terrifying sounds in the animal kingdom. Male Lion's roar can be heard as far as 8 km. He mainly uses it as a border patrol or to warn potential male rivals and neighboring pride that he owns that territory.

3. Athleticism That No Human Can Match

An adult Lion can do a sprint in a quick burst of speed for a short period of time, they can go as fast as 80 km/h. They can also leap as far as 11 meters. Yikes! Good luck outrunning one.

4. Health Is Wealth

Male Lions are the only known big cat species to have manes. A Lion's mane can be a symbol of health and potency, and a healthy mane is thick and dark. A male Lion with a healthy mane will most likely attract more female Lions. It seems Lioness like suave male Lions.

5. Kings of the Savannah

Lions are famously referred to as 'King of the Jungle', but they are actually, in fact, most commonly found in savannahs, grasslands, and plains. And not in jungles.

6. Professional Snoozers

Lions are the laziest of all the big cat species. A Lions day usually goes like this: It spends 2-3 hours hunting, about an hour of eating, and sleeps for 20 hours.

But perhaps the most well-known Lion appearing on the big screen is Leo. Leo the Lion is the roaring Lion that you see on MGM logo and the opening sequence of MGM films.

10. Top Dog, ermm Lion

The Lions are still in Vulnerable status, with the wild population estimated as few as 20,000, or even less. They haven't recovered ever since they were declared as vulnerable in the year 1996. With a 42% population decrease in 21 years. They are disappearing from the wild at a rapid rate, the two primary reasons being habitat loss, and poaching.

Lions are amazing creatures and there more interesting and amazing facts about lions than one's I shared, but for now, will be limiting them to 10. Maybe in the future, I'll share more. hi pikachu! :) nice post. I wonder just how many movies have been made where lions are the main star(s). can u feel the luv 2night??

There are actually a lot, there is Born-Free and To Walk With Lions, and of course the most famous movie about Lions, in my opinion, is the animation film The Lion King.

I know more facts about cats compared to an average person but I wouldn't say a ton, I'm not really an expert when it comes to cats, and most of the cat knowledge I had did not come from a first-hand experience, I got them pretty much from watching countless documentaries. But hey, I would love personally to see a Lion. Just not a caged one. Cheers! :)

Sharing cage with a lion is more fun!

I rather watch them from a far. I don't want to wet myself hah!

Pikapi! :D Awesome stuff. Unfortunately, lions (insignia) in the Game of Thrones world belongs to the Lannister, and I hate most of them with passion. lol

Hah! Well if it's GOT we're talking about, we do share the same feeling about lions.
