Palm Islands
The Palm Islands or Palm Islands are 1 artificial islands currently under construction, which are among the largest in the world of their kind. On these islands, commercial and residential infrastructure will be built, since they are expected to become a tourist destination. They are located on the coast of the city of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates. The project will increase the surface of beaches in Dubai by some 520 km and is carried out by the company Nakheel Properties, which in turn entrusted its construction and development to the Belgian companies Jan de Nul and Dutch Van Oord.
These islands owe their name to their shape, a date palm, and consist of three main sections:
The trunk: Where the main avenue of the island is located and the main accesses are located. It also reaches the second part of the island called
The fronds: Simulates the foliage of the palm tree and in the three islands, this area will be exclusively for residential use.
Crescent: Surrounds the island in the form of a half moon (hence the name) and acts as a gigantic breakwater.
The Palm Trees Jumeirah and Jebel Ali in its construction require 100 million m³ of rock and sand. The Palm Deira will have a volume of sand and rock ten times greater than that of the Palmas Jumeirah and Jebel Ali. The islands will have large residential areas, villas, apartments, restaurants, theme parks, entertainment areas, marinas, shopping centers and luxury hotels. The names of the islands are Jumeirah, Jebel Ali and Deira.
