The Dragons Lair
Common or Weedy Seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) taken at Flinders Pier, Victoria, Australia.
Weedy Seadragon's like their Leafy cousins are endemic to Southern Australian waters. The leaf shaped appendages & cryptic colouration provide superb camouflage for them to hide from predators & hunt for small crustaceans & mysids.
These fish grow to around 30 cm & are closely related to Seahorses & Pipefish.
I loved your title! Got my attention from the crowd of new posts. And that photo is just awesome. Looks surreal!
