Rare Moon nature spectacle today!

in #nature7 years ago

Hey folks,

Today 3 rare nature phenomena come together. The last time we saw this consterlation was in 1982

We will see:

"Supermoon" which means the moon will look much bigger and lighter as usual. This is because the moon is very near to the earth at this time ( about 360 000 km which is about 25000km less then the average )

"Blue-Moon" which doesn't mean the moon is blue. It means that there is the second Fullmoon within calender month. 1st one was on the 2nd January , the second is today , January the 31th .

"Total lunar eclipse of the moon" This happens if the moon gets covered by the sandow of the earth.
The moon then looks a little bit reddish. ( This could only seen by people of Central and East-Asia , Australia and Hawaii)

For the next Super-Show of our beautiful neighbour you have to be patient, it'll be in 2037 ;)

On this picture you can see all three phenomena:

And if you are one of the lucky ones who live in Asia/Australia/Hawaii , just look out of the window ;)

Have a nice moon,

Really useful and great knowledge. I personally used to research about space and want more information like this. Hope to see more great posts.
