A beautiful Sunday on the Jacks Fork River

in #nature7 years ago

After a crazy week of work and a birthday party at our house yesterday, we decided to go enjoy some peace and quiet by our beautiful local river today! We are so lucky to have great friends that own private property on the Jacks, so we get to enjoy this little slice of heaven all to ourselves :)

Jason was fishing with “baby brush hog” lures and crawdads that the girls caught out of the river and caught about 8 or 9 smallmouth bass

The fish were actually biting today! This is our oldest daughter with her first catch of the day

We stopped to snap a photo at the public access just right down river from where we were at. It’s hard to tell but there were so many people! And that’s why we are so grateful to have access to private property :)

Our daughters decided they wanted us to take the scenic route home on the gravel roads, so we took our time and stopped to pick some wildflowers

It has been a gorgeous summer day here in the Ozarks and we enjoyed it to the fullest! Happy Sunday, folks!!! :)

Really nice pictures! I'd like to go wading in a couple of those pools in the river, it looks really nice!

Thanks! It really is heavenly :) The water is a little low after no rain for about a week, but some of the spots out in the middle are around 10-12 feet deep, I would say. We had a lot of fun snorkeling and checking out all the fishies ;)

Quite a heavenly place as you mentioned. With free food too. :-)

Yes, indeed! ;)

WoW! What a beautiful place!

It’s one of our favorite places to go! And we feel so blessed to be so close to it :)

Your post reminded me of swimming in a similar river in Macedonia in 2016 - I even posted a photo from those moments: https://steemit.com/killerpix/@careassaktart/the-end-of-summer-2016

Oh wow, that is remarkably similar! I took a quick look at your blog and it looks like you’ve seen some amazing things. Macedonia must have been quite an experience. I also follow a few other people from your home country of Croatia and seeing the photos makes me want to travel there so badly!!! Following you now to see more of your photos and adventures :)

Thank you! Balkans are still quite intact & the diversity is on a very high level! There's like "everything" here! Be careful when you come cause many fall in & never want to go back home ever again! 😉
