Tiny Fugi Sprouting in My Plant Pots

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

I was tidying up my collection of potted plants when I noticed what I thought were loose pebbles next to one of the smaller pots. When I went to flick them away I noticed their fleshy texture. Having a closer look (with my glasses on) I realized they were tiny mushrooms sprouting from the drainage holes on the pot. The potting mix contains composted pine bark and I would imagine that's what the fungi is growing from.

There were three of them and the individual caps ranged from 13mm to 16mm across. Make sure you look at the large version of the last shot and see if you can spot a little visitor. I did not see it until I saw the photos on the computer screen.

Once I had some mushrooms growing in my cat's grass.
Those are very cute. And I really like the Sempervivum :) Lovely dark tips.

Beautiful photos and is it a tiny spider at the base of the fungi?

Thanks. It's actually a small weevil.

Ok thanks.

Oh wow! Haha interesting surprise!
I have never had those particular mushrooms show up, but if I overwater my plants, I end up with these tiny, bright yellow mushrooms sprouting in the soil. :)

I've been known to buy plants just for the bonus fungi living in the pots. :-)

Bah ha ha! Gotta love those bonus goodies!

I love fungi. These are great shots.

Thanks. It reminded me that fungi season is upon us. I'll need to get out and grab some shots.
