Wildlife of Canada - Creatures of Summer
A departation from my regular botany-based blogging, I'd like to share some pictures of Canadian wildlife.
Canadian geese, one of the most recognizable bird species in my country. Not much to say about them other than they are big, loud and sometimes aggressive.
A tiger swallowtail butterfly, a very colourful species found in Ontario and elsewhere.
A slithering snake with its cloudy eyes. Quite possibly a common garter snake.
I'm not an insect expert by any means, but I had to capture the intense bright green of this caterpillar. Perhaps readers can chime in and let me know what kind of butterfly this becomes!
An Eastern grey squirrel decides to come and take a look curiously at the camera lens. They enjoy urban environments just as much as the deep woods.
Well I couldn't resist. Here's a lovely picture of a wild rose to round off this post. Summer is when all the forest animals awaken and get active, so whenever you're out in nature you'll see all kinds. Plants and animals exist in a symbiosis where one depends on the other. With the amount of birds, mammals and insects about, it's impossible not to notice them!
Black squirrel???
Haha, what a confident fellow. I'm guessing this is taken in Europe? There, it's the Eurasian Red squirrel that predominates. You can tell by its perky ears, and orange colour.
Seems like he was pleased by your offering :)
Amazing, thank @seedvault!
I never see black squirrel before
