Taking Care In Our Forests This Summer

in #nature7 years ago

Every year, no matter how wet the previous winter was, our forests are under constant danger of wildfires burning out of control. Sometimes they are caused by carelessness of humans. Other times they are caused by natural elements like lightening. No matter what the cause, it appears to be devastating is so many ways in the moment. The loss of the natural resources of trees and shrubs that provide food and shelter for animal life is sad. However, there is always an amazing balance in nature that occurs after events like these. Many trees survive the fire even though they may be scarred. The underbrush that burns clears many possible diseases that can spread to the larger trees that would eventually kill them. The ash and charred wood break down over time and create a natural fertilizer that provides much needed nutrients to the forest floors. Many sick animals that are culled out allow the healthy ones to return and whose lives assist the natural restoration and beauty of our treasured lands. It is up to each of us to take care of our natural resources so when you are in the forest, remember to take care and be responsible for putting out fires. As Smokey Bear says "only YOU can prevent forest fires". Okay, I had to add that. Seemed incomplete without the PSA.

Buy land and plant trees.

Absolutely! They provide the much needed oxygen and clean the air! BTW...I'm an Oregonian too. Born and raised in Coos County on the coast. WE LOVE TREES! Cheers

I am from Forest Grove. Awesome. Love those trees. We Oregonians love and know trees like so much. I am in Vietnam but might come back to OR USA.

Yes we do. Hope you are enjoying your time in Vietnam as well.

Thank you. Now, I'm near Seattle.
