in #nature6 years ago

Didnt know picking up trash while jogging had a name, right?

7th July 2018, 7am. I have the opportunity to involve in a volunteered activity called Plogging, organised by Youth For Change, Kuantan Pahang Malaysia. What is Plogging? It's a fitness trend combining Jogging and Litter Collection.

In recent years, our Earth has been polluted by man-produced waste that is non-disintergrated, mainly plastic. How many times have you been exposed to the news or clips that show sea animals suffer/die due to plastic thrown into the sea.
I have come across a sea turtle hurt with a straw stucked at its nose, a whale died with 17 pounds of plastic bags in its stomach, a supposed-to-be-beautiful beach flooded with tons of trash.

  • Do you know the salt we consume nowadays, maybe a mixture of sea salt, trash and chemical wastage?
  • Do you know drinking straw is plastic product that we use one time only?
  • Do you know a colossal 1.4 billion pounds of trash ends up in our ocean, yearly. And much of it is Plastic,

Finally, a group Photo.

I live in Malaysia, and we Malaysian are fortunate that we are free from Natural disaster. Our country is surrounded by Indonesia, so that we don't get our coast side polluted by the trash brought by the sea wave.
Subsequently, our country people is lack of awareness on preserving and conserving the Environment.
I can tell when I could not even jog as every two steps of jog, I will need to bend down to pick the rubbish.

Start reusing, reducing the plastic usage, or even replacing plastic product with some other environmentally friendly products.
CHANGE, for next generation.

Let's Plog!
