That would be cool to have your own pond. I have been wanting a decent-sized pond/small lake for a while. I think it would be fun to make my own as well. Yes, it would be a lot of work, but I could potentially make it to the specs I wanted. Customize it so it would be nice for swimming and fishing.
It sounds like maybe it's on your list of things to do... eventually.
