Lion Blood Brothers of Shingwedzi!
It was just after sunrise and there they were, blood brothers, devouring a buffalo calf just 30 meters from the side of the road. I struck a luck spotting 2 huge male Lions but even more lucky when on a kill so close and in reach for your 300mm lens. The buffalo herd was still in sight on the horizon so the kill must have happened just before light. They looked fierce. Their eyes appeared as if they were those beautiful blue white husky hound type. They were focused, always alert for possible intruders and scavengers. While watching them have breakfast I heard another male in the distance calling. Perhaps the king reigning his territory warning any unwanted presence . The 2 males paused for a few seconds and then carried on devouring their kill. You could clearly see the one male had dominance over the other one and was in charge. After about 30 minutes the dominant male picked up the carcass and dragged it further from the road into the shade under a bush in hiding and to eat in peace. I had captured some great images and felt fulfilled to leave the sighting at that point.
Wow, great story and photo! :) That must have been a really exciting experience!
