The Pygmy Kingfisher

Rare as it is tiny and a strikingly beautiful specimen of Nature.

It is carnivorous catching small tadpoles, fish and insects.

I photographed this image at Punda Maria where the borders of South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique meet.

This area is also known as crooks corner as it was so remote from any central authorities that the most wanted used to flea here to hideout.
