Angel Falls - Venezuela

in #nature7 years ago (edited)

In the Western sector of the Canaima National Park, there is the Auyantepuy, one of the most famous tepuyes. (Tepuyes are flat mountains that end with immense vertical walls).

From that point is the Angel Salto, with 979 meters of free fall, the highest in the world. The falls are a tributary of the Carrao Rives, itself part of Venezuela´s Orinoco River system. Considered among the world´s most dazzling natural wonders, Angel falls are truly unforgettable spectacle

Before the mid 1950s, the falls were an unknow wonder. Even the indgenous Kamarakotos Pómon tribe who occupied the valley beside Auyán-tepu stayed away, believing that Angel Falls remote location harboured malign spirits

Canaima National Park, with its breath-taking variety of tropical wildlife an awe-inspiring vistas, is the gateway to Angel Falls. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is only accesible by air; ther are no overland routes into the park

It is a wonderful experience to know this place, you feel so small before that immense plateau, the energy that feels indescribable.
