It was very unfortunate to hear another acid attack incident this morning. As many as 13 cases of acid attacks have been reported in Capital this year. This time an 11 year old boy became the victim of an atrocious crime where he has had difficulty in seeing after his eyes were badly injured in an acid attack by his friend's older brother.

On the face of it, I am unable to ascertain the reason that encourages the wrongdoer to commit such a heinous crime that has the tendency to spoil the career, life and moreover very existance of the victim.In this case what is even made me more disturbed is that the crime has been committed by a juvenile (under 18) that is a matter of grave concern for the national development as the human resource of the nation is indulging themselves in wrongful activities.

With the augmenting number of cases of acid attack being reported nationwide, the supreme court, hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) last year had passed a slew of orders and guidelines to curb the menace of acid attack. ( I shall discuss the supreme court guidelines in my ensuing post.)
