Entering unknown crafting territory

in #needleworkmonday6 years ago

Joining Steemit and its #needleworkmonday society, has proven to be a tremendous source of inspiration to me. There are so many things I want to try, and so many highly skilled needleworkers happily sharing their knowledge and know-how.

I find knitting really relaxing, but I haven’t found the courage to knit something more advanced than scarves and shawls. Up until now! Seeing all the wonderful works presented on Mondays, and feeling the support and encouragement has enticed me out of my comfort zone. It has made me venture into unknown territory. I am knitting myself a jumper!

I found a recipe that said Perfect for beginners. LOL - I’ve spent more time googling what they mean in the recipe than actually knitting! I don’t understand half of it, but I guess I’ll have to figure it out as I go.

All the best with the new project @lil-mich 🌺
Is the pattern online ?
I am looking forward to following your progress.

Hooray for you for venturing out into the unknown!! It delights me to hear that #NeedleWorkMonday and all of the support you have received has motivated and enticed you to step out of your comfort zone!!

I am so looking forward to keeping up with this new project of yours and I hope you get a beautiful end result!! Keep us posted!! 😃

Happy Knitting~

It's come to a little stand-still as the weather here is incredible - I am simply too busy going to the beach every day! :) Perhaps I can bring my knitting to the beach? :)

I think that would be a great idea!! Relaxing at the beach while knitting...that’s like double relaxation!! 😁

This is where I am at too, I have found YouTube is very helpful as I am a visual learner and can knit/crochet along with the video. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out :)

I know! Youtube is just the best! I have learnt som much from videos there. You know what they say - the source of youth comes from learning new skills. :)

I like that expression!

In the risk is the diversion, which adds to the wonderful experience of weaving. Keep going, sure you will achieve great projects and experienced good experiences. Greetings.

I hope so, at least I'm having fun doing it! :)

You can do it! I knit my first sweater in flat pieces to be seamed. Then I discovered Elizabeth Zimmerman's books and have knit them in the round ever since--fewer seams and you are always looking at the right side of the fabric. Keep us updated on your progress.

I'll look up Elizabeth Zimmerman :) I like knitting the round, it goes quite fast and keeping track of where the starting point is is pretty easy with the marker. Thanks for your support @fiberfrau! :)

That fuzzy yarn has stolen my heart @lil-mich! Be patient with yourself and the process. We are here for you and many of us are knitters who can help you out in a pinch. You can do this! Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you!

haha thank you for your faith in me @crystalize! :) It's great having so many people rooting for me. :) You'll all hear a scream if and when I need some help! :) I realize I am on the easiest part, I wonder how it will be when I am to join all the different pieces. :)

We got your back!

Yay to Youtube! I 😍 the yarn and the color combo. You can do it!! 💪

thanks @marblely! :) I can do this!! :)

I wish you well with your jumper! Hope it goes alright and isn’t tooo frustrating 😄❤️

Thanks, you really have inspired me with your beautiful knitting :) I'm not feeling frustrated at the moment, just mildly surprised at how complicated a beginners' recipe is. :) we'll see how frustrated I feel when I am to start joining the different parts! :)

How exciting! It is great, isn't it, to see everyone else's posts and imagine all the things you could do? I remember a similar experience when I used to go to a knitting group and realised I could start more than one project at a time.
The wool looks lovely and, from your pictures, it looks like you have made a good start. Look forward to seeing how you get on.

Yes, that is exactly it, seeing all these wonderful posts makes one realise it is within reach, one can actually attempt new projects. And if it fails, it's not the end of the world! :)

This little knitted stuff is gonna turn out to be a jumper?! I'm definitely watching to see it unfold. Its nice that you came out of your comfort zone. Trying new things is mostly fun!

haha I know, it looks so tiny! I am a very petite person, and the recipe has different sized jumpers. Perhaps I chose a size too small! :) Oh well, my sister's daughter said she really wanted the same jumper when I showed her a photo of how this is supposed to turn out. :)
